It's a pretty big mod to download, so it's important that players know how to download the Extreme Violence mod in Sims 4 to avoid the game from breaking.

Updated March 31, 2023, by Rain Egan: As the Sims franchise continues to evolve, so do the mods that enhance the experience of the game. Now that the base game is free, the franchise has seen a significant increase in players that don't necessarily want to drop the now hundreds of dollars on every Experience, Game, and Stuff Pack that EA has to offer. That's where mods come in, but not all mods are built the same. The Extreme Violence mod offers features that EA does not. It is at its core a family-friendly game, and the Extreme Violence mod contradicts that message. So, for new and old players alike, here's an updated take on how to download the popular mod, streamlined with additional troubleshooting.

What Is The Extreme Violence Mod For The Sims 4?

The Sims 4 Extreme Violence Mod Art

The Extreme Violence mod is one of the most famous mod packs from Sacrificial Mods, a major mod creator in The Sims 4 community. They're best known for their mind-blowingly detailed and immersive mods that deal with zombie apocalypses, a fame system prior to Get Famous coming out, and various other large mods worth discovering.

Extreme Violence deals with exactly what it promises: violence. Players should expect gruesome animations, new interactions, and loads of blood. Sims can now murder one another in various ways, engage in illegal activities and even deal with the police.

It's not a mod for the faint of heart or for younger players, so older gamers should use caution if they share their PC or game with younger audiences. For the full list of features, refer to Sacrificial Mod's website where the mod can be downloaded from.

How To Install The Extreme Violence Mod

The Sims 4 Grim Reaper

Firstly, players will need to navigate to the Download page for Sacrificial's mods.

  • Scroll down and click on the Extreme Violence mod thumbnail. Always choose the latest version, and make sure The Sims 4 is also on the latest version.
  • Wait for the .zip file to finish downloading.
  • Open the .zip file using a piece of software like WinZip, WinRAR, or 7zip. Any .zip file extractor program will work.
  • Select every file inside the .zip file and then right-click for a drop-down menu to appear, then select "Extract to..." Note that the exact wording will depend on the software.
  • Extract the .zip file contents inside The Sims 4 Mods folder, usually found at "This PC > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4".
  • Start The Sims 4 normally. At the start menu, however, make sure to enable custom content and script mods in settings. The game might need to be restarted if this wasn't selected by default.
  • The Extreme Violence Mod is now installed!

Note that whenever The Sims 4 receives an update, custom content, and script mods are disabled by default. This means that players will need to re-enable them from the menu after major patch updates, expansions or game packs, and so on.

Players should keep an eye out for the mod creator's news page as well, as they will regularly update their mod packs and release new versions with fixes and brand-new features. Doing all this will prevent players from breaking their game.

What Are The Major Features Of The Extreme Violence Mod?

Sims 4 Extreme Violence Mod

The Extreme Violence mod, to the surprise of no one, allows Sims to carry out extremely violent acts that can be quite disturbing. Player discretion is advised since pretty much the entirety of this mod features unnecessary and horrifying acts of brutality that can genuinely make Sims unhinged.

The Extreme Violence mod lets players violently assault and choke other Sims to the point of near death. If fists aren't enough to get the point across, then Sims can just straight up take a knife and stab others too. There are two variations of this attack, with the chest stabbing being quite brutal as Sims leap at their target and violently stab them multiple times. Of course, both variants lead to the death of a Sim.

Additional features include:

  • Numerous ways to murder including stabbing to death, ripping out a Sim's heart, mowing down civilians with an Uzi, and running them over with a car.
  • Two new possible moodlets: 'Prison Break' (self-explanatory) and 'Above Authority' (earned when a Sim kills a police officer).
  • A Sim that kills someone gets the Serial Killer trait, and killing off too many Sims will cause the Grim Reaper to send a warning message to the player. If this is ignored and players still keep on killing Sims without a care in the world, then the Grim Reaper himself will come down to dish a violent beating of their own on the culprit!
  • Vampires get the ability to drain the entirety of a Sim's blood, leading to their death whenever this action is carried out.
  • A new aspiration titled 'Psychopathic Killer' for Sims with lofty goals of becoming a renowned serial killer.
  • Firearms, with Sims being able to take a shot from a distance to incapacitate someone else if the player wishes for this to be the case.
  • Turf wars between two added gangs - The Thotties or The Hardwood Gang.

The content present in the Extreme Violence mod is pretty gory and not for the faint of heart. Regardless, props should be given to the mod creator for adding so many interactions and making this mod feel pretty fleshed out, twisted as it may be.

Extreme Violence Mod Troubleshooting

As a mod that impacts gameplay so significantly, the Extreme Violence mod tends to break every time there's a major patch to the game. It's also rather complex to install, so it's understandable that players will encounter difficulties when figuring out how to get it to work properly in the game. Here is a list of troubleshoots for anyone having issues:

  • Ensure the mod is fully up-to-date by going to the Sacrificial Mods download page.
  • Ensure that the game allows custom content and script mods by going to the general settings page in-game.
  • Make sure the mod and all of its files are only one subfolder deep. Unfortunately for people that like to keep their custom content super organized, script mods (such as this one) should be unzipped directly to the mods folder and not sorted into any additional subfolders.
  • Ensure the game is fully updated.
  • Uninstall all other mods to ensure the Extreme Violence mod is the primary issue.
  • Use the Sims 4 Mod Manager to identify specific conflicts the mod is having.

The Sims 4 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
