The Sims 4: A Complete Guide To The Astronaut Career
Astronaut careers can be tricky and costly, but it’s quite straightforward once The Sims 4 players understand the details.

Both adults and young adults can work part-time jobs, but for teens, school hours can present a conflict as to which schedule they choose. When choosing a part-time job, earning the most Simoleons is likely the player's goal. With that target in mind, these are the best part-time jobs available in The Sims 4.

Updated February 7, 2024, by Alexandra O'Leary: There is a plethora of ways to make money in The Sims 4 without resorting to cheats, and one of the best ways is to seek out employment. Though part-time jobs are arguably less beneficial than full-time jobs in the grand scheme of things, those who opt for the former will find that their Sim will have a lot more time for themselves, giving players more control over their lives. There are several part-time jobs available for Simmers to choose from, but not all of them are as good or rewarding as others.

8 Barista

10 Hours Per Week

a coffee shop in The Sims 4
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Working Hours: 5am to 7am
  • Maximum Pay: 62 Simoleons Per Hour

While making coffee doesn't sound like the best Sims job available, the pay is pretty good. The Barista part-time job starts off with the Sim being a Coffee Stain Remover. The starting pay is 28 Simoleons/hour. Next up is the Bean Blender at level two of this career. The pay goes up to 41 Simoleons/hour, and there's a bonus of 193 Simoleons.

To get promoted, the Sim will need to reach level 2 of the Mixology Skill. After that, they'll be bumped up to a Latte Artist and will make 62 Simoleons/hour. It comes with a decent bonus of 289 Simoleons. The schedule for all three levels is the same: Monday through Friday, 5 AM to 7 AM. This part-time job is available as part of the base game.

7 Video Game Streamer

10 Hours Per Week

  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Working Hours: 5:30am to 7:30am or 9:00pm to 11:00pm
  • Maximum Pay: 61 Simoleons Per Hour

Players will need The Sims 4: High School Years to have access to the Video Game Streamer part-time job. This career is linked to the Entrepreneur Skill, which means players will build on this skill as they advance through the levels of the job. While the base level of Casual Streamer starts off with a modest 20 Simoleons/hour pay rate, players will be able to work this job around their Sim's after-school activities and classes. To be promoted to level 2, their Sim must reach level 2 in both Entrepreneur and Video Game Skills.

6 Fast Food Worker

20 Hours Per Week

selling pizza using the food stand item
  • Working Days: Monday-Friday
  • Working Hours: 6am to 10am or 5pm to 8pm
  • Maximum Pay: 20 Simoleons Per Hour

Fast Food Worker isn't exactly the most glamorous job available for Sims who want part-time work. It's pretty realistic, however, since the shifts are four hours at a time on several days a week. It still leaves two days a week free for a Sim to chill and socialize, and the hours are pleasant for a younger Sim or an adult Sim with other commitments.

The worst part about being a fast food worker is that it doesn't pay great, even if a Sim gets promoted to Food Service Cashier. Pay begins at 16 simoleons an hour and only increases to 20 overall. For a teenager with no money, 80 simoleons for four hours of work a day is pretty appealing, but there are part-time jobs with much better pay if that's the priority.

5 Lifeguard

16 Hours Per Week

  • Working Days: Thursday to Sunday
  • Working Hours: 8am to 12pm or 5pm to 9pm
  • Maximum Pay: 48 Simoleons Per Hour

Lifeguard is the perfect part-time job for Sims who love an active job where they can flex their swimming prowess. Sims will only have to work four days a week, making it one of the best options for those who want the perfect balance between working and free time.

It's another job that only requires four hours of work a day and for pretty good pay. The standard wage for a lifeguard is 33 simoleons per hour and caps out at 48 simoleons an hour - which means there's pretty good pay progression as well as friendly working times. With either a morning or evening shift, Sims can have the rest of the day to themselves and, even if they work late, won't be guarding the pool any later than 9pm.

4 Manual Laborer

10 Hours Per Week

  • Working Hours: 7am to 12pm

As part of the base game, players can elect to have their Sims pick up the Manual Laborer part-time job. This option starts off with a higher base pay than most part-time job options, with the Lawn Mower earning 45 Simoleons/hour. There are no promotional requirements to reach the next level other than showing up to work.

At level 2, the Sim will become a Landscaper and earn 59 Simoleons/hour. The promotion bonus for this level is 225 Simoleons. To be promoted to the final level of this part-time job, players must have their Sim reach level 2 of the Gardening Skill. Level 3 is a Backhoe Operator, which pays 70 Simoleons/hour and offers a promotion bonus of 293 Simoleons. The schedule is 7 AM to 12 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

3 Diver

The Sims 4 Could Be Coming to the Switch
  • Working Days: Saturday & Sunday
  • Working Hours: 6am to 1pm or 6pm to 12am
  • Pay: 48 Simoleons Per Hour

This part-time job is perfect for teens who want to earn themselves a little cash on the weekends or even adults who work during the week but want some extra money by working on weekends. The Babysitter part-time job lets players care for children on the weekends, either during the morning or night. The working hours are Saturday and Sunday, 6am to 1pm or 6pm to 12am.

The plus of a part-time job like babysitting is that Sims can still have a large portion of the day to themselves. For teenage sims who go to school all week and want a job without sacrificing their social lives, finishing work at 1pm or starting at 6pm gives them loads of time to do other things. The only thing a Sim will need to progress in this career and earn the maximum pay per hour is reach level two in Charisma, which will be very easy.

1 Simfluencer

10 Hours Per Week

They'll start out making 26 Simoleons/hour as a Nano-Simfluencer. To get promoted to the next level, they'll need to increase both their Entrepreneur and Charisma Skills to level 2.

The second tier of this part-time job is being a Macro-Simfluencer, which earns 55 Simoleons/hour and comes with a 500 Simoleon promotion bonus. By reaching level 4 in both Entrepreneur and Charisma Skills, the Sim will be promoted to the final tier, which is Mega-Simfluencer.
