The Xbox 20th Anniversary event is nearly here, and with it, has come a lot of promotions and marketing. In the latest bit of advertising, Xbox teases an appearance from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who is asking for the help of gamers around the world.

It may still be hard to believe for some, but the original Xbox, the beefy Duke controller, and Halo: Combat Evolved all began their journeys 20 years ago November 15. Xbox has had its ups and downs along the way, but in its current form, Xbox has expanded beyond just a game console to a recognized brand around the world. Celebrations began earlier in the year with new 20th Anniversary Xbox merchandise like shirts, hats, and mugs, but has grown in scale ever since. With special edition controllers, the gorgeous Halo Infinite Xbox Series X console, and a reflective broadcast on the way, it is a festive time to be a gamer on Xbox.

A new tweet by Xbox UK suggests that The Rock will be stopping by during Xbox's 20th Anniversary stream on November 15. The tweet features a video of The Rock standing in an Xbox-themed room, where he asks fans to tune into the upcoming stream, saying, "I need your help like never before." Fans have known about the stream for a couple of weeks now, it being a celebratory and reflective broadcast centered on Xbox's history and game's, not being an event for new game reveals or presentations. While the video ends with a teaser for The Rock's upcoming Netflix film, Red Notice, it is uncertain what this collaboration might entail for the event.

The Rock is one of today's most recognizable actors, who has found a career in some of Hollywood's largest blockbuster franchises after years in the WWE. As he mentions in the video, The Rock and Xbox go way back, with the wrestler-turned-actor helping unveil the original Xbox with Microsoft in 2001. Earlier this year The Rock teased another Xbox collaboration on his Instagram which may have ultimately been his inclusion in the upcoming stream. In 2020, The Rock also teamed up Xbox to donate Xbox Series X consoles to multiple children's hospitals across the country.

It is not unusual for celebrities to be involved in the marketing for games and consoles, especially in the current social media, digital age. None can forget the legendary appearance of Keanu Reeves at Xbox E3 2019 for Cyberpunk 2077, who played one of the game's leading characters, Johnny Silverhand. There is also iconic commercial of the late Robin Williams, and his daughter, Zelda, playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D together in 2011. Fans will just have to tune in on November 15 to see what The Rock has planned to celebrate Xbox's 20th Anniversary.
