A spiritual successor to Until Dawn, The Quarry is the next title from Supermassive Games. However, expectant fans will have to wait almost a full month after the official release date to indulge in some of The Quarry's features.

After The Quarry went gold, Supermassive Games confirmed its release date would be June 10 for PC and consoles. Unfortunately, development issues have caused the online multiplayer features to be delayed.

Supermassive Games has released several trailers for the upcoming horror story, which features nine different teenage camp counselors attempting to survive in the titular quarry against an unknown menace. The Quarry will come with local couch co-op mode and Movie Mode, allowing audiences of up to seven others to provide input into critical character decisions by directly controlling their own counselor character. In contrast, Movie Mode simply allows players to enjoy The Quarry's cinematic horror narrative as if watching a movie, but these features are currently restricted to local users only due to the online multiplayer features still being developed.

Both online modes would also be a huge benefit to streamers who may wish to include audience votes in their videos, but these modes will be unavailable until July 8, restricting The Quarry's alternate modes to local co-op only. Director Will Byles mentioned how The Quarry's accessiblity features were implemented to assist any player(s) making decisions throughout the complex storyline, such as "Death Rewind." As such, it may be worth horror fans waiting for the full release to enjoy the game with others completely unspoiled.

Continuing the studio's trend of producing horror games with branching narratives, The Quarry boasts nearly 200 endings across the interconnected story paths. Finding all endings will be quite time-consuming for completionists and horror fans, and the delay in online multiplayer modes also means some interested players will need to be wary of spoilers for a whole month if they want to truly appreciate the game.

The Quarry includes familiar horror actors and actresses much like Until Dawn and Dark Pictures, adding to the cinematic status of Supermassive Games titles. Once the online multiplayer issues are rectified then players of The Quarry will be able to enjoy the full game as intended, with more terrifying horror elements still to come.

The Quarry launches June 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
