Earlier this year, developer Supermassive Games announced The Quarry, a spiritual successor to the studio's claim to fame, Until Dawn. Much like the latter game, The Quarry is a cinematic horror adventure game in the same style. Much like some of Supermassive's other projects, The Quarry's cast is filled with notable Hollywood stars doing motion capture and voice acting, such as David Arquette, Brenda Song, Justice Smith, Ariel Winter, and more being a part of the cast.

Many fans were excited to see how The Quarry would follow up on Until Dawn, considering the latter game was so popular. A big selling point in particular with both games comes down to player choice, where the many decisions that come up during gameplay can affect if a character within the narrative survives or dies. It essentially gives fans a playable horror movie, but the lives of the characters are in their hands. Fans won't have to wait long to experience it either, as the developers have announced that the game has officially gone gold.

For the uninitiated, "going gold" refers to a game reaching a point where the master copy can be produced. As a result, physical discs can begin being printed for retailers like GameStop and Best Buy or be uploaded to digital stores for download. While The Quarry is now content complete and is in a state that fans can play, it typically doesn't mean the end of development. As with other games released in this age, there might be day one patches that will fix bugs when the game launches in June.

Supermassive Games revealed this news on its official Twitter account, noting that within six weeks, players will be able to explore Hackett's Quarry, with a short video posted in celebration. This short video contained two of The Quarry's characters in front of a fireplace, with the words "Gone Gold" appearing on the top.

Fans flocked to the Twitter post, many of them excited that the game is going to be released on time. Some of them even stated that this game was one of their most anticipated games of 2022, especially with how much of a success that Until Dawn was and how The Quarry was following in its footsteps. Supermassive thanked the many fans who expressed their excitement for The Quarry, and hoped that the game would live up to their expectations when it releases this summer.

The Quarry launches June 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
