Saving everyone in The Quarry is definitely a hard but rewarding task, especially on the first playthrough. Having to control nine protagonists and collect Clues, Evidence, and Tarot Cards while also solving Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp mystery throughout ten chapters is no easy feat.

The eighth chapter of The Quarry is a very heavy chapter, as it has some serious events like Ryan going with Laura to find Chris Hackett and the rest of the group trying to fix the broken van. But, the most important part of this chapter is when the couple stumbles upon a red room that has a werewolf and Jacob locked behind a cage.

How To Solve The Breaker Puzzle and Free Jacob In the Quarry

To trigger the puzzle, choose HELP JACOB while playing as Ryan. Solving the puzzle is quite easy, as it requires simple math equations. There are three electrocuted cages, where number seven has the werewolf, number five is empty, and number three contains Jacob.

Freeing him requires opening gates labeled five and three. Opening the console box across the cages has four breakers numbered from one to four.

To unlock gate number three, pull BREAKER 1 and BREAKER 2, as one plus two equals three.

Same thing with the following gate. Since two plus three equals five, this means that players need to pull BREAKER 2 and BREAKER 3. As a result, Jacob is free and the werewolf stays inside its cage.

What Are The Consequences For Not Saving Jacob

If by any chance players fail at solving the puzzle, there’s no second chance. In this scenario, Ryan will tell Jacob to wait inside the cage as it seems safer and to not worry about the monster in the other cage, since it’s locked and electrocuted.

Unfortunately, in chapter nine, when Laura is running away from the Hacketts, she damages the supply box and the power goes out, thus the cages become unlocked and are no longer electrocuted. If Jacob was not saved in the previous chapter, the hungry werewolf will attack and kill him.

The only way for Jacob to be safe is if Laura killed the monster with a silver bullet before solving the puzzle. However, it’s not recommended to shoot it as this locked-up werewolf is actually Nick.

How To Get Jacob Inside The Cage

In chapter six, after running away from the Hunter, players will get the chance to play as Jacob and explore the area near the treehouse to get some Collectibles. If Emma survived the werewolf attack in the previous chapter, Jacob will find her and have a little chat.

After a while, the same monster that attacked Emma re-appears and chases the couple around the area. If the QTEs are successful, Emma will fall from the bridge and Jacob continue to run. Next, pick HIDE then Hold Breath until the werewolf goes away. After that, Jacob gets caught in a trap and neither of the two available choices will free him. Finally, a hunter appears, knocks him out, and drags him to the red room.

The Quarry is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
