Most minerals in The Planet Crafter are real elements like silicon, iron, and cobalt. The one big exception is a material called "super alloy," and it's both rarer and more valuable. Early blueprints in The Planet Crafter don't need any super alloy, but once players reach T4 equipment, just about every new machine needs at least some of these colorful nuggets.

Alloy nuggets can show up in random chests and shipwrecks, but not nearly enough to meet a player's needs. Fortunately, there are several ways to get super alloy in large quantities, and some of them are bottomless.

Super Alloy Deposits

Planet Crafter Super Alloy Sites

The map of The Planet Crafter has several locations where players will find plenty of super alloy nuggets ready for mining. The first is a region called the Labyrinth Canyons, which is a series of stone pillars due north from the standard starting location.

It's also a short distance from the Iridium Mine. Players won't find any super alloy on the ground beneath these pillars, but most of them have ledges players can walk along partway up. These ledges are covered in super alloy, and even players with a large backpack will need multiple trips to bring them all back to their base.

The second big deposit is a small cave west of the Iridium Mine with several stone pillars around the entrance. Its coordinates are 1050:64:1693. Players will find fewer super alloy nuggets here than in the Labyrinth, but this location becomes much more useful later in the game.

The third location where players can find super alloy is called the Sand Falls. Players can get here through a passage in the cliff between the Iridium Mine and the super alloy cave, and it's also one of Planet Crafter's alternate start locations. The super alloy is hidden under the falling sand.

Advanced Craft Station

Once players reach 175 kTi and the Blue Sky terraformation stage, they get the Advanced Craft Station blueprint as a reward. This station comes preloaded with a set of crafting recipes, including one for super alloy.

The recipe calls for one each of the six basic minerals, which are iron, cobalt, magnesium, silicon, titanium, and aluminum. Aluminum can also be hard to find, but in general, it's much easier to get than it is to get super alloy.

Ore Extractors

This is where the small cave comes in handy again. While the Labyrinth has plenty of super alloy on its ledges, an ore extractor in this area won't find any nuggets. However, an Ore Extractor T2 or T3 placed in the super alloy cave will regularly produce this rare material. Players should note that the T1 model can't extract super alloy, and so they must wait for the T2 model to use this method.

Meteor Showers

Planet Crafter Meteor Shower

Meteor showers are regular events in The Planet Crafter. Most of them drop the six basic minerals, but as the Terraformation Index rises, several variations will start to occur. One of these is a super alloy shower.

Players can easily tell a super alloy shower from a normal meteor shower by the sheer number of meteors. While a normal meteor shower drops around a dozen meteors, a super alloy shower drops ten times as many, and each meteor contains one super alloy nugget.

That's the good news, but the bad news is that the super alloy despawns much faster than normal meteor deposits. This means players will have to rush outside during the shower if they want to get as much super alloy as possible, and doing so carries a risk of being struck and killed by a meteor.

The Planet Crafter is available now in early access for PC.
