The puzzle-solving game offers a beautiful world that is interspersed with many different layers that can be brought together in interesting ways. The lovely game design and the delightful gameplay make The Pedestrian fun for gamers of all ages. Take a look at these simple tips to improve the experience of the game.

10 Connect The Signs And Boards

The Pedestrian - Connect The Signs and Boards - Player connects 2 boards to walk across the doors

Throughout the game, players will come across multiple signs and boards that have a variety of objects in them. From doors to ladders, these objects define the ways players can interact with the different boards in each stage. A few of the stages will have less than 3 boards while others can have more than 5.

Take a moment to view the entire section of the stage to see the big picture. With each sign that connects, people will find it easier to walk through obstacles and reach their goals.

9 Rearrange The Boards Often

The Pedestrian - Rearrange the Boards Often - Player places boards to figure out the path forward

People need to find components as they proceed in the game. The level design is unique to The Pedestrian and often requires players to rearrange a number of boards to get the right sequence. It can be frustrating to move across boards only to find a dead end. Zoom out and view the possibilities before making the next move.

Most of the times players will need to make a small change to finish the stage. These minor shifts can involve placing a board directly above another board that has a ladder to climb down.

8 Activate Levers Carefully

The Pedestrian - Activate the Levers Carefully - Player activates lever on a separate board

There are many kinds of levers in the game. Use them properly to navigate across the stage. A few of the levers can be activated to lower the lift to reach a door. Other times players will need to activate one lever at a time to move from one pedestal to another.

There are difficult stages in the game where levers are placed on separate boards. In such cases, people can zoom out to view the connecting boards and plan out the progression beforehand. It might take several attempts to get to the next stage. Be careful while activating the levers and look for exits that can be accessed through them.

7 Move Boxes Around the Boards

The Pedestrian - Move Boxes Around The Boards - Player moves box from on top of a platform

Boxes are strategically placed throughout many boards in the game. These boxes can be moved from board to board to assist in movement. People can drop the box from on top of a board to interrupt a laser that is blocking the way. After the box has dropped to the ground, people can go around the panel and reach the bottom to move the box to the adjacent board to jump onto platforms that are hard to reach.

Since The Pesdestrian is a side-scrolling platformer, players can look in both left and right directions before moving the boxes on any board. Don’t be surprised to discover new routes by moving these boxes in unconventional ways.

6 Sockets can Unlock Paths

The Pedestrian - Sockets can Unlock Paths - Player moves the board to activate sockets

Sockets can be found on signs in each stage. In the earlier stages, these sockets can be stretched to connect plug points that can activate panels that are otherwise blocked. Sockets can also be carried from one board to another and used while climbing up and down ladders in The Pedestrian.

These sockets are crucial to progress to the next stage. On boards that have multiple doors, there might be plug points that grant them access. These plug points are indicated by yellow wires that are connected to gears for opening doors. Be sure to look around the board to find these wires before connecting the sockets.

5 Use Keys in Creative Ways

The Pedestrian - Use Keys in Creative Ways - Player block laser with a key

Players will come across numerous keys while exploring the signs and boards in The Pedestrian. In the early stages of the game, these keys can be collected to open doors that are usually next to each other. As the game progresses, these keys can be used in a number of creative ways that make the game a lot more fun.

These keys can be pushed from on top of boards and placed on top of trampolines to temporarily deflect lasers. Players need to move quickly to take advantage of the situation and find the lever that deactivates the laser before securing the keys.

4 Place Tunnels On Top of Each Other

The Pedestrian - Place Tunnels on Top of Each Other - Player stacks boards with tunnels in a column

Tunnels are designed as doors with white stripes on them. These tunnels are mostly found in boards that have a ladder and a door around them. Move these boards around the panel to find keys. These keys can be carried back through the tunnels to different signs that open other doors.

Depending on the arrangement of the ladders and doors around the tunnels, players can walk to boards that are at larger distances. When caught between boards, people can zoom out and try a combination of sequences to find the right path.

3 Wear Cool Hats

The Pedestrian - Wear Cool Hats - Player finds a key wearing the Chef's hat

Apart from the keys, sockets, and components that are dispersed in the game, people can unlock wearable hats that make the game incredibly stylish. Walking across planks and jumping across platforms can look tremendously satisfying while wearing these hats.

There are a number of distinct hats that can be acquired in The Pedestrian. The Spartan hat and the Business Tycoon hat can be unlocked in the first secret room. The Cowboy hat is found right after obtaining the Inductor in the game. The Chef’s hat can be found towards the end of the game.

2 Secret Rooms Can Be Fun

The Pedestrian - Secret Room can be Fun - Player dashes across platforms

Secret rooms are hidden areas in the game that can be accessed right after finishing a stage or just before starting a new level. These secret rooms are extremely challenging to solve. From TV sets to basketballs, the level design of each of these secret rooms is filled with beautiful real-world objects that can be marveled at by fans of the indie genre.

It can take seasoned platformers hours to get through these secret rooms. It combines the best of the puzzles that require people to use mundane objects from the game in fresh and fascinating ways.

1 Hidden in Plain Sight

The Pedestrian - Hidden in Plain Sight - Player inputs the correct number to gain access

Upon completing a stage, players need to input a specific number to get to the next level. Beginners might have a tough time figuring out the numbers to input using the 3 dials at the end of every stage. Don’t worry, these numbers are displayed beside the digital screen on a white piece of paper.

These pieces of paper have an illustration of the object that has just been acquired. By entering the correct number on the digital screen, the train will move to the next destination.

The Pedestrian is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
