During the Game Awards 2018, Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian revealed to the world its latest IP. Following the reveal of its teaser, many believed this new game could potentially be a BioShock Spinoff. This was due to the unique, BioShock-like design that accompanied the teaser, with companies titled Spacer's Choice and Auntie Cleo's giving off a retro-like vibe. Now, we know that this latest game is a brand new universe known as The Outer Worlds.

Of course, little is known about Obsidians' latest project, but the developer has a good reputation in the gaming community. This means it's likely many are excited about what's to come, but so far, we know that The Outer Worlds sees players travel to the edges of the galaxy in opposition to some corrupt companies.

While this may not have been exactly what some were expecting when Obsidian first teased the forthcoming game, it definitely seems worthy of Obsidian's reputation.  And hopefully not disappoint those looking for a Bioshock vibe. Check out the reveal trailer here:

As seen in the above trailer, there is definitely going to be a level of humor to The Outer Worlds, as there is a unique choice for the main character, a few absurdities, and a fitting background song. Moreover, the steampunk sci-fi dystopian setting is a bit out there as well, so players should expect a hilarious thriller out of this.

Other than that, a lot is hush-hush until the game gets closer to launch in 2019. It's worth adding that this is Obsidian's first game since its acquisition by Microsoft, though this game is being published by Private Division, an indie label from Take-Two. The Outer Worlds is currently in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and is set to launch some time in 2019.
