The Outer Worldsthe latest Fallout style RPG from New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment, is out today. The relatively short game is launching for $60, but it is possible for players to get their hands on it for $1.

The game is getting great praise so far. The Game Rant Outer Worlds review called it "a staggering combination of moving parts tailor-made for the hardcore RPG fan."It is similar in a lot of ways but takes some major departures from the genre formula, namely including space travel to different planets. Instead of exploring one sprawling open world, the game offers smaller open planets. RPGs fan may love it, but some may be put off by the 15-40 hour length, which is a bit on the lower end for the genre. If these players are hesitant about spending $60 on the game there is another option for Xbox and some PC gamers.

Players can sign up for Xbox Game Pass, which begins at $1 a month for the first month. Microsoft's subscription service gives players to access a catalog of first-party exclusives and third-part games like The Outer Worlds at any time while still subscribed. Xbox players who have don't currently or have never subscribed to the service can sign up on their computer or Xbox console. Anyone who current has Xbox Game Pass can download and play it on their Xbox.

For PC players, all they need to do is sign up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and they can play The Outer Worlds on PC. Microsoft recently expanded the Game Pass program to its PC launcher with  Game Pass Ultimate. It is the same concept as Game Pass but has a different selection of games, with some crossover. The Outer Worlds is one such crossover game. Regularly $5 a month, a current offer is letting new users subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate for $1 for the first month, and then $5 for each month after.

Game Pass is a great way to try out new games. In this case it may be worth it to sign up for that first month to see if The Outer Worlds scratches that Fallout itch or not.

The Outer Worlds is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
