‘The Order: 1886’ Gameplay Footage Reveals Monstrous Enemy

By | 2 years ago

One of the most anticipated exclusives arriving on the PlayStation 4 next year is The Order: 1886, and it’s made immediately apparent why that’s the case once gamers have seen the game in action. Aside from the controversy surrounding Ready at Dawn‘s decision to make the game run at 30 frames per second, this old-timey, third-person shooter has been a major focus for PS4 owners ever since its initial reveal.

Sony, knowing that many gamers are chomping at the bit with anticipation for the title, was more than happy to bust out a new gameplay trailer during its E3 2014 press conference. The footage doesn’t highlight any new gameplay mechanics or mind blowing features, but it does give players a very good look at the type of monsters that await them in The Order: 1886.

The werewolf-like baddie that’s featured in the trailer is unquestionably a force to be reckoned with. After absorbing bullets as if he were a paranormal sponge, the beast continues to terrifyingly walk towards the player until eventually wounding the main protagonist, Galahad, and separating him from his weapon. It’s hard to imagine the hero will perish at that moment (duh), but the atmosphere of the game really stands out as something special.

Despite looking great thus far, pushing the game back into 2015 in an attempt to give it a little more polish appears to have been a good call — although it’s hard to assess just how much the game has benefitted from the extended development time. For now, however, there are a few other exclusives coming to the PS4 this year (such as LittleBigPlanet 3) that should act as fine distractions while Ready at Dawn wraps up work on the title.

What did you think of the new The Order: 1886 trailer? Will you be picking up this PS4 exclusive when it finally hits store shelves?
