A new trailer for the highly anticipated Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic, has been released -- this one focusing on the Jedi Consular class. While the trailer is more cinematic and less informative than some might like, it does show off many of the abilities/capabilities of the Consular, namely their ability to buff their teammates and debuff their enemies.

Of course, being a Jedi, the Consular isn’t without the assistance of their lightsaber, so don’t expect this to be a class that sits back and only heals their teammates, but they can do that too. From the trailer it looks like the Consular is a mixture of a healer and a mage, but can get down and dirty if need be.

BioWare has revealed that each class in The Old Republic will follow a unique storyline independent from any of the other classes’ storylines on either sides of the force. How exactly the Consular’s plot points will come together — what their experience will look like as compared to a class like the bounty hunter — is unclear, but the Consular definitely looks like a worthy candidate for a first encounter with the game.

Without further ado, here is the trailer for the Jedi Consular:

As details like box art, pre-order incentives, and a collector’s edition continue to pop up in gaming news, it further solidifies that The Old Republic is right around the corner. This detailed look at the Consular is just one of the many classes that gamers will get to choose from, so choose wisely.

We know you can’t wait to get your hands on any piece of this game -- whether it’s the Jedi Consular storyline or just getting too boot up that intro cinematic -- and neither can we. Hopefully the MMO releases sooner rather than later.

What do you think of the Consular class in The Old Republic? Is this the type of MMO class you’d be interesting in role-playing for your first experience with the game?

Star Wars: The Old Republic will hit in either late 2011 or early 2012 on the PC.
