The Old Republic Jedi Knight Bounty Hunter Trailer

In Star Wars: The Old Republic, as in many BioWare RPGs, there will be many a tough choice to be made. Among those tough choices is the decision of which character class to role through your adventure in a galaxy far, far away.

To help influence gamers one way or another, a new The Old Republic trailer has been released that focuses on two of what are sure to be the more popular classes: the jedi knight and the bounty hunter.

Playing out like a Star Wars edition of Deadliest Warrior, various BioWare personnel argue the strengths and weaknesses of the jedi knight and the bounty hunter. While both will provide ample opportunity to decide what type of character (moral or immoral) you want to be, one obviously leans a little closer to the light side of the force. And before a discussion brews about good guys always winning, let us mention that the first trailer for the game showed clearly that isn’t the case in this universe.

As you can see, it’s tough even for BioWare to select who would win. There are significant advantages for both classes — the jedi knight can pack a punch at close range while the bounty hunter has enough armor and stun abilities to hold off that onslaught — making it up to each player’s skill to decide a victor.

But hearing the developer talk about the strengths and weakness of the various character classes can only take you so far — it’s more important to see those classes in action, up close.

And don’t forget that jedi knight and bounty hunter are just some of the more popular character classes in Star Wars: The Old Republic, not the only ones. It’s up to you to decide, this holiday season, which character you want to role, and who will rule the galaxy.

Which character are you more likely to start your The Old Republic experience off with: the bounty hunter or the jedi knight? Who would win a no-holds-barred battle?

Star Wars: The Old Republic releases December 20, 2011 for the PC.
