Not many anime introduce a magic system as complex as the one that Misfit of Demon King Academy revolves around; the humans alone have over a thousand Holy spells in their arsenal, nevermind all the Demonic and Spiritual magic, which can be traced back to the Ancient and Mythical Ages.

As to be expected, The Demon King of Tyranny, Anos Voldigoad, has a firm grasp on most of the spellwork at his disposal, so much so that he was able to create his own sect of enchantments, the omnipotent Origin Magic, which draws power from a more potent being. This article does not discuss specific spoiler arcs that have not been featured in the Misfit of Demon Academy anime; however, some of the following spells have not been shown in the series yet.

11 Lightning Magic: Golzora

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Lightning Magic Golzora

The destructive power of Golzora is put on full display by the hateful teacher, Emilia Ludwell when she fries eight young demon-hybrids to a crisp, despite their numerous defensive tactics. This assault can be on a smaller scale, whereby a melon-sized ball of potent purple energy is hurled at the foe, causing an explosive effect upon impact.

Alternatively, the spellcaster can produce a consistent wave of lightning energy with enough deadly force to put even Avatar's Azula to shame. The Source targeting Ji Noavs and several other electrifying spells are significantly more lethal; however, they have yet to appear in the anime.

10 Fire Magic: Jio Graze

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Fire Magic Jio Graze

While there are several flame manipulation spells at the demons' disposal, Jio Graze is by far the most noteworthy, as it essentially harnesses a power equivalent to that of a tiny sun. In most cases, multiple cooperating spellcasters are required to evoke this potent magic, although the almighty Anos can achieve the desired effect single-handedly.

In the case of a team effort, one individual is given the authority over Jio Graze's power and can control the flames' trajectory, while a Hell Flame Annihilation Mortar is needed to fire the blast. Interestingly enough, the Demon King manages to negate this top-level spell with a mediocre Grega, attesting to his tremendous magical power level. Anos also updated Jio Graze to decrease the damage caused to the wielder, dubbing his masterpiece Aviastan Jiara.

9 Troop Magic: Gyze and Aske

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Troop Magic Gyze and Aske

While individual power levels are evidently important, those with the most might are leaders of an efficient team that shares their magic, benefitting the entire group as a whole. Members under Gyze's influence are classified into specific roles with unique functions, including the commanding King, the Creation magic-fueled Guardian, the offensive Mage, the intellectual Shaman, the buff Cavalier, and the self-explanatory Healer and Summoner.

Similarly, Aske (also spelled Asc) gathers its strength from a group (human or demon), evoking the power of love and admiration and concentrating the positive energy to empower a chosen wielder. It benefits a single party and not everyone involved, and does not always have to be a voluntary process; although if admiration gets forcefully extracted, the subject's soul is at risk.

8 Resurrection: Indol and Ingall

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Resurrection Magic Indol and Ingall Anos Voldigoad Demon King of Tyranny

Anos shows how truly sadistic Resurrection Magic can be when it is used as a punishment instead of a reward, as the pain of death is never eliminated from the equation. Indol can be used to cause temporary loss of life, while spilling a droplet of blood before casting Ingall to resurrect the target (if used in conjunction with the three-second rule), creating a blood-soaked loop of torture.

Other significant Necromantic magic includes Azheb (which alters genetic and physical attributes after revival), and the zombie-producing Igrum, the most effective way of utilizing a corpse after the Ingall time limit is exceeded.

7 Playing God: Dino Jixes

Misfit of Demon King Academy Strongest Demons Ivis Necron Dino Jixes Sasha and Misha Necron

Created by a Demon Elder Emperor, the ominous Ivis Necron, Dino Jixes essentially disrupts the natural order of things by separating a single Source into two segments, with a secondary body to house the excess power. Each individual can live out their life gathering strength and experience, before eventually fusing into one entity. In the case of Misha and Sasha, this time gap lasts fifteen years.

In theory, the original body (and its corresponding personality) will remain intact while the other fades away, leaving their powers behind for the host to consume. The Necron sisters circumvent this untimely demise with Anos' assistance and find a way to form the all-new Aisha by using Dino Jixes to their advantage.

6 Eternal Death: Behelius

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Resurrection Magic Eternal Death Behelius Anos Voldigoad Demon King of Tyranny

Behelius is like Igrum on steroids; constructing a cycle of death and revival, while the victim is confined to a coffin, where they will remain until their magic gets depleted and resurrection is no longer possible (ever!) This innovative spellwork uses the target's own power supply to fuel Behelius' effects, draining them in the most merciless way possible.

One would never guess that Behelius could be used as a means of protection because, although the coffin's death loop isn't the most pleasant, the vessel itself is considerably robust, boasting top-tier magic barriers and anti-magic spellwork. The occupant must just be cautious of the duration of their stay, waiting for the external dangers to pass without reaching their personal power limit first.

5 Secret Necron Technique: Magic Eyes of Creative Destruction

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Aisha Necron Magic Eyes of Creative Destruction

When the Necron sisters activate Dino Jixes on their own accord, they put their family's specialized Fusion Magic on full display and combine their Sources to become the all-powerful Aisha. As a result, this new warrior has access to both the Demonic Eyes of Destruction and Creation, essentially becoming a double-edged sword.

The reach of Aisha's newfound powers is seemingly limitless. The effects of her Creation and Destructive magic are potent enough to manipulate anything imaginable, including magic weapons, and negate fierce spellwork such as Gavuel and Teo Triath (which fires Aske's concentrated force.)

4 The Human Spell: Eleonore

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Living Spell Eleonore

When Commander Jerga, King of Humans, separated his Source, two new entities (living spells) were formed; the beautiful Eleonore being one of them (and Jerga, the other.) Fortunate enough to have received none of the tyrant's toxic traits, Eleonore holds no contempt toward others, although she has been forced to mass-produce an army of Source clones to assist in the demise of the demons.

Eleonore's clones are not empty vessels but powerful beings in their own right; however, significantly lacking in the independence department and will become suicide bombers at the drop of a hat. When given a choice, Eleonore prefers to focus on defensive and healing magic and is particularly adept at De Igelia and Enne Igelia.

3 Mind Control: Jerga

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Living Spell Mind Control Jerga

Aske has a complex range of capabilities that are affected by the spellcaster's intent and can be heartfelt and cringe-worthy (as with the Anos Fan Union) or a convenient segue into the brainwashing business. Created by Commander Jerga, this manipulative spell is used in conjunction with Aske; however, the connection is corrupted as fear and hatred for the Deepest Darkness infiltrate the love and admiration of the original spell.

Subjects knowingly supply energy to their King and are subsequently turned into mindless puppets; even demon loyalists can become overwhelmed by the deafening voice of "reason" and subsequently take up arms against their own kind when Jerga is effectively activated.

2 Time Manipulation: Rivide and Revalon

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Time Manipulation Rivide and Revalon Anos Voldigoad and Ivis Necron with the Keeper of Time

Anos is a master of time manipulation and can cast Rivide over a vast region, freezing a whole town full of people (and more), and even stopping spells in their tracks. The Demon King can also opt to localize this Origin Magic to a small area or singular being, leaving everyone else untouched, and sending the target back in time to heal their wounds or restore forgotten memories.

Anos can also delve into the past by invoking Revalon, which allows him to take a trip down memory lane, but there is a limitation to the changes one can make to history, as the ripple effects could be disastrous. If the intention is to meddle with the timeline, then plan to be confronted by the Keeper of Time!

1 Total Destruction: Egil Grone Angdroa

Misfit of Demon King Academy Best Magic Spells Universal Destruction Egil Grone Angdroa Anos Voldigoad Demon King of Tyranny

Much like Yamamoto's Bankai at full force (in Bleach), Egil Grone Angdroa uses flames to turn its victims into cinders and draws from the power of the Gods themselves (along with any past users.) Even inflammable elements (including the Divine Realm itself) are not immune to this form of Origin Magic, which can incinerate an entire universe in a heartbeat.

The Demon King is the only known wielder of these fatal "apocalyptic flames," and not a very good one, as he puts little effort into controlling the destructive force, allowing the Gods of Creation and Destruction to do what they please.

Season 2 of Misfit of Demon King Academy is due to air on Crunchyroll on 7 January 2023.
