Bloober Team's discussions to possibly be acquired have come to a halt. The developer stated last year that it was interested in merger talks with several companies, and even made it to the second round of acquisition negotiations with a few US and Polish companies. However, this was before the release of Bloober Team's latest psychological horror game The MediumThe Medium was a sales success and quickly recovered the cost of its production, and it seems Bloober Team has now decided to trust in its own autonomy.

The Medium was Bloober Team's biggest project so far, although it certainly wasn't the developer's first foray into psychological horror. Previously released titles including Observer, the Layers of Fear series, and Blair Witch were all horror games, but The Medium is definitely the exclamation point to punctuate the list so far. Bloober Team is already working on its next big project, and it seemed for a while that the project would be in conjunction with another larger company. That won't be the case anymore, as The Medium's success has encouraged the developer to continue working solo, at least for now.

In a recent press release, Bloober Team states that it will not continue acquisition discussions with other companies right now due to a perceived risk of "losing its overriding strategic objectives." Bloober Team also says that merging with another entity at this point may limit the company's growth potential, especially concerning current projects in development. Bloober Team does not specify which current projects would be in jeopardy, but its focus on current in-development games might be good news for fans placing stock in the rumor that Bloober Team is developing a new Silent Hill game.

The developer also states that it has "spare financial resources" after the release of The Medium and wants to use those resources intelligently to further the company's success. This process would involve making investments designed not only to increase Bloober Team's value, but also to possibly recruit other companies to help further the company's objectives. Bloober Team has not necessarily ruled out working alongside other companies on future projects as long as those companies have plans that "complement" the developer's efforts to improve its sales and production goals.

Bloober Team may be working on a few new projects but it hasn't neglected its prior games. The developer recently released a patch for Observer: System Redux that enables ray tracing and makes other necessary fixes. Bloober Team is also working in tangent right now with publisher Koch Media to launch physical releases for The Medium and Observer: System Redux, although if the developer sees continued success, it may end up publishing future titles itself.
