Movies are always more enjoyable when the audience knows the cast is having fun with the experience, and it looks like The Marvels is shaping up to be incredibly entertaining by that metric. Brie Larson and Iman Vellani appear to have become fast friends during filming, and it parallel's perfectly with the characters.

The Marvels, as the upcoming sequel to 2019's excellent Captain Marvel, already has plenty to live up to. Aside from its predecessor film, it will include some beloved characters from the well-received Disney Plus Marvel series Ms. Marvel and even WandaVision. But while many hope to see a developing connection between WandaVision's Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Captain Marvel herself, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), it looks as though the relationships behind the scenes are just as wholesome. Ms. Marvel star Vellani seems to have taken to Larson just as much as her character idolizes Danvers, and it's frankly adorable.

In an interview at the Gold Gala in Los Angeles, Vellani recently spoke to People about her relationship with Larson on the set of The Marvels, and it seems as though they've essentially adopted each other as surrogate siblings. "We're close and then she's honestly an older sister at this point," the Ms. Marvel star said. "But yeah, I think she's really taught me a lot about how to take care of myself and the importance of self-care mentally and physically, and I really value our friendship." It sounds like both Vellani and her character are seeing their dreams come true.

There's a lot of anticipation for The Marvels, particularly considering the beloved characters it's bringing together. The Marvels has reportedly seen shockingly positive reactions in test screenings and will see the 3 forenamed heroes teaming up in a battle of necessity. As Larson's Carol/Captain Marvel investigates a mysterious wormhole in space, she finds her powers suddenly and unintentionally entangled with those of Vellani's Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Parris' Captain Monica Rambeau. While this creates problems, it also seems like a dream come true for Kamala, a proud Captain Marvel superfan as shown since the beginning of the Ms. Marvel series.

Many consider Ms. Marvel to be the best superhero show in 2022, and it's not difficult to see why. The series goes to great lengths to develop its characters and portray realistic relationships between family and friends. But there's also a cultural aspect with its focus on a Pakistani main character and its obvious appeal to young women, and that's another aspect that Vellani appreciates about the show. "I didn't ever realize that a story like this could just exist out in the open," she gushed. "I think the fact that we got to have it on Disney Plus, and Marvel is one of the most successful franchises in the world. It means the world that little girls are going to grow up and have this be something that they could watch on a Friday afternoon."

Between the highly-anticipated crossover between the 3 stars and Ms. Marvel's cultural appeal as a Pakistani hero, it's clear The Marvels has a lot going for it. Here's hoping it lives up to its potential because a movie like this sounds fun. It would be nice if audiences got to have as much fun as the actors have been having.

The Marvels is set to hit theaters on November 10th, 2023.
