Disney released a new photo of the Mandalorian and Grogu sitting in the cockpit of the Mandalorian's new tricked-out N-1 Starfighter, along with the detail that fans could expect the new season to start in March 2023.Star Wars is continuing its recent successes in the TV realm with the fan-favorite third season of The Mandalorian. Today Disney decided to drop a new image and a release date on fans at CCXP, an event at which Lucasfilm showcased some of its upcoming projects, including Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.Related: Star Wars: Easter Eggs From The Mandalorian Season 3 TrailerThe Mandalorian, the Jon Favreau TV idea that took the world by storm when it premiered in 2019, proved to be the perfect antidote to the pandemic blues everybody was feeling at the time. It looked and felt like big screen Star Wars, and more importantly, its characters, including the Mandalorian himself, played by Pedro Pascal, and the baby member of Yoda's species now known to audiences as Grogu, were almost instantly iconic. After two seasons (and a half, considering the Mandalorian's arc in The Book of Boba Fett, which saw him reuniting with Grogu about an episode after he gave him up to Luke Skywalker at the end of season 2), they are returning to Disney Plus on March 1st.

Fans who have taken on Werner Herzog’s stance of wanting to “see the baby” get their chance with a high-res picture of him and his father figure, Mando, sitting in the cockpit of the new N-1 Starfighter that Din Djarin got to take on his bounty hunting duties after his original ship, the Razor Crest, was destroyed by Moff Gideon toward the end of season 2. The Book of Boba Fett saw the Mandalorian once again reuniting with Mos Eisley junkyard owner Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris), who revealed that she has a Naboo starfighter. Mando's going to need it when he returns to Mandalore for the fight of his life since the series has set up a steadily brewing Mandalorian civil war—led by Katie Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze—for control of the Dark Saber, which means control of the entire planet.

Rumors have also been coming in that Moff Gideon himself - the man who last possessed the Dark Saber before the Mandalorian gave him a whupping with a Beskar spear and took it - is returning in a suit of Mandalorian armor of his very own, revealing that the former Imperial officer may have more to his backstory than fans first thought. There’s even the possibility of explaining why the Empire has been craving Grogu and his high midichlorian-count blood (cloning a dead emperor perhaps?) Whatever the case, the story is sure to excite when the third season of The Mandalorian debuts next year.

The Mandalorian season 3 returns on March 1, 2023, on Disney Plus.
