The Mandalorian season trailer dropped this past Monday. With that, it has also been confirmed who will be behind the camera ensuring Din Djarin and Grogu's adventures look as spectacular as ever.

The Mandalorian led the launch of Disney Plus in 2019 and became the platform's most popular and highly-acclaimed original content, standing head and shoulders above its Star Wars peers or any Marvel Studios show. Behind that success is an immensely talented group of directors, led by series creator Jon Favreau, who appear keen to add more names to that list.

As confirmed by Lucasfilm, when it comes to directing duties, The Mandalorian season 3 will feature at least three newcomers: Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison, Minari writer-director Lee Isaac Chung, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-director Peter Ramsay. The series will also welcome back Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Carl Weathers. The first two look to direct their third Mandalorian entry while Weathers clinches at least a second go at the show.

The Mandalorian season 3 consists of 8 episodes, just like the previous two. So unless there are any last-minute announcements, some of these directors will enjoy the opportunity to helm more than one entry. As far as the writing goes, in December of last year, Disney confirmed that Favreau would pen all eight episodes, with Noah Kloor stepping in to co-write chapter 3 and Star Wars veteran Dave Filoni contributing to chapters 4 and 7.

Disney Plus is currently rolling out the second season of The Bad Batch, which, along with Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, Visions, and Young Jedi Adventures, makes up the streamer’s Star Wars lineup for this year, though none come close to the hype surrounding The Mandalorian. The show's trailer teased plenty of Star Wars easter eggs in The Mandalorian season 3 as Din Djarin's quest for redemption takes him to Mandalore.

The Mandalorian season 3's upcoming release means the show will be one of two series starring Pedro Pascal to air in early 2023. Pascal's performance as Joel in The Last of Us premiere left many excited for the HBO video game adaptation.

The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere on Disney Plus on March 1, 2023.
