Following the iconic Lord of the Rings character's adventures prior to the beginning of JRR Tolkien's iconic book series, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has managed to garner a lot of interest since its announcement back in 2019. While the title was initially intended to make its way to PC and consoles later this year, Gollum was delayed in January, with Daedelic Entertainment announcing it would hit shelves next year.

During today's Nacon Connect livestream, the developer offered a firmer release window for the game, confirming The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will make its way to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch in Fall 2022. The announcement came alongside a fresh look at the game, revealing some of the locations players will venture to outside of Mordor and a few of the iconic Lord of the Rings characters they'll get to meet.

The clip is narrated by Daedelic Entertainment Producer Harald Riegler, who reveals an array of interesting new details about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Earlier this year, the studio teased Gollum's adventure would take him beyond Mordor, and today, fans got their first look at what it was referring to. Players will get to travel to the Great Forest of Mirkwood and to the Mines of Moria, with Riegler confirming that the game will document Gollum's "long chase for his precious ring."

Mirkwood gets a particularly lengthy look during the promo, with the trailer offering an insight into the area's luscious green fields and elven architecture. It even shows Gollum navigating the area, as he scales glowing purple vines, climbs across perilous ledges, and leaps between fallen rocks.

Riegler also goes into detail about some of the other characters that will crop up throughout the game, with the producer claiming that Gollum has "pretty much met everyone." To offer an early taste of the kind of cameos players should expect, the clip shows three character models from the game. The biggest bombshell came right at the end, with Riegler closing out the showcase by revealing The Lord of the Rings: Gollum's interpretation of Gandalf the Grey, who sports a tall hat, a large feathered robe, a wooden staff, and a long grey beard.

He was joined by the game's take on the Mouth of Sauron, who acts as Sauron's messenger and the lieutenant of Barad-dûr. Riegler confirms that Daedelic's version of the character will be the first to show his face. The clip also unveils Thranduil, the Elven King of Mirkwood and the father of Legolas. His appearance is very fitting, sporting a long green robe, wooden shoulder pads, and a headpiece made of branches with dangling ivy.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum is slated to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
