While the Legend of Zelda series has taken many different directions over the course of 35 years, from exploring the origins of the Master Sword to even dealing with the end of the world, 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild both revolutionized the Zelda series and the open-world genre as fans knew them. And although many patiently await the release of the sequel to Breath of the Wild, many are keeping themselves busy by making their own fun in the original game.

The latest mainline installment in the Zelda series introduced fans to a sprawling stylized 3D open world, filled with rich environments and loads of history, and as such, fans were instantly drawn to finding out how they can experience the world even further. While some mods allow Breath of the Wild players to view the game in first-person and other fans have recreated the world in full VR, a new glitch has been discovered that may do away with the need for those.

Breath of the Wild is no stranger to glitches, and one YouTuber focusing on glitches and combat montages known as A.xk_ has discovered a way to play through the entirety of the game in first-person triggered by a sequence of actions. A.xk_ has dubbed this new glitch the "item hold glitch," and demonstrated how to perform it over on Twitter.

The new glitch seemingly involves switching over to the Sheikah Slate's camera, holding multiple items, such as fruit, and then performing an "item hold cancel" to trick the game into thinking that the user is still in the Sheikah Slate's camera mode. While this certainly sounds simple in theory, its worth noting that A.xk_ seems to have had quite a bit of time with this glitch, so while anyone may be able to pull it off, it may take a little while to master first. One other Twitter user noted that this glitch should be very helpful in creating The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild montages, which YouTube user Peco has already gone ahead and done, creating a serene video featuring one of the game's Stables.

It will certainly be interesting to see how other players end up utilizing this new first-person glitch, and whether it could provide any benefits during speedruns as well. Other recently-discovered Breath of the Wild glitches allow players to become invincible and walk underwater, duplicate their Spirit Orb items, or even start a new game with the Bow of Light weapon.

To many fans, news on the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can't come soon enough, but these interesting glitches may keep players busy in the meantime. Of course, with Zelda's 35th anniversary taking place this year, fans also have Skyward Sword HD to look forward to, as well as other potential surprises down the road.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available for Switch and Wii U.
