Yesterday's Last of Us Day featured a solid handful of announcements in celebration of The Last of Us and The Last of Us 2. Between new merch, a new collectible statue, and confirmation that Naughty Dog is working on The Last of Us 2's multiplayer mode, the studio also notably announced that an EP titled The Last of Us Part 2: Covers and Rarities would be available for download and, as of this morning, is available on all major streaming services.

The five-song EP features the five different songs that appear throughout The Last of Us 2 that were sung by Ellie and Joel. The tracklist includes Future Days sung by Troy Baker, True Faith, Through the Valley, and Take on Me sung by Ashley Johnson, and Wayfaring Stranger sung by both actors.

All of the songs featured on the EP make appearances in the game in some way or another with the exception of True Faith which was only used in the game's marketing. Fans of The Last of Us might remember the song for the slight controversy that it created as Naughty Dog didn't properly credit the artist whose cover they were using in their TV advertisement. The studio eventually apologized to Lotte Kestner over the incident and, thankfully, the song was able to be featured on the EP.

Fans have been asking for Naughty Dog to release the music featured in The Last of Us 2 ever since the game's initial reveal trailer, which featured Ellie sitting playing the guitar in a house full of bodies. The song she sang in the trailer, Through the Valley by Shawn James, also appears in the game as an Easter egg in one of the first scenes, as Ellie is listening to it after arriving in Jackson.

Ellie's full version of the song can be found in-game for completing the story in the punishing permadeath mode. The full version of Joel singing Future Days can also be heard during the credits after completing the game on the Grounded difficulty setting which, along with permadeath, was added as free DLC to The Last of Us 2 last August.

The Last of Us Part 2: Covers and Rarities is available for streaming on all major services, and a physical vinyl release of the EP is available for preorder from Mondo.com. The physical edition of The Last of Us Part 2: Covers and Rarities can be found right here.

The Last of Us 2 is available now for PS4.
