It is quite easy to get fooled by the internet; a tweet here, or a fake article there can trick even ardent fans. One thing that perhaps does not get past gamers as easily is an entire video game trailer, which was the case with a recent The Last of Us teaser. Video game trailers are so detailed and well-made that faking one is difficult to do. However, a recent fake teaser of The Last of Us was uploaded to YouTube and it fooled quite a few fans.

The Last of Us: Homecoming went viral and was trending for all the wrong reasons recently. Although many would love the idea of a single-player DLC for The Last of Us, it turns out that a recently uploaded video named "Homecoming" is indeed fake.

The teaser trailer for The Last of Us: Homecoming uses footage of previous The Last of Us games, along with voiceover from Joel. This makes the imagery rather believable. The trailer is also very short and to the point, and it is also edited very well. The video and YouTube channel uses the official PlayStation logo and information, making it look legitimate. The video ends by saying that the DLC will be available on April 10, 2021, as a PlayStation exclusive, which would add to the list of PlayStation games for 2021.

Quite a few fans--whether in the comments of the video or on Twitter--were taken aback by the video, and many are still being fooled. Some still think that this DLC will arrive in April. The description of the video claims that the DLC will have players explore themes of survival and loyalty with Joel before he meets Ellie. Of course, that is not the case because the video is fake, adding to the long list of fake video games.

The Last of Us Part 2 was one of the highest-rated games last year, and many fans would love to get more from the series from Naughty Dog. However, there are others who have already had enough. With the franchise being so story-driven, the game may have already finished the narrative that it needed to tell. In fact, many of the fans that were fooled by this fake The Last of Us: Homecoming teaser were upset about the idea that more story was being told within the world, as they believe that it should be wrapped up for good.

Some of the controversies surrounding The Last of Us Part 2 simply have to do with the idea that the first game's story was more than enough for some. Therefore, if another piece of DLC or yet another full-game was to be released in The Last of Us universe, it could be hurt the experience. However, there are other fans who believe the world-building of The Last of Us is so remarkable that any storytelling within it could be beautiful and intense and dynamic with the right talent behind it.
