An incredible video showed a professional baker making a lifelike Clicker cake inspired by The Last of Us. This is also proof that The Last of Us fans can get a scary yet delicious cake based on the mutated cannibals in the game for any special occasion.

Clickers are cannibals in the third stage of infection caused by a fungus called Cordyceps, which could take over human brains and impair their vision. These creatures got their name because of the unique clicking sound they make, which The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann said was meant to separate them from zombies. Compared to Runners and Stalkers, Clickers appear less human because of the fungal growth skewing their faces, and also possess significant strength after prolonged exposure to spores (or in the HBO adaptation, tendrils).

The appearance of Clickers can stoke fear into people who have played or watched The Last of Us, and most especially those who are not familiar with the Naughty Dog title. So, when professional baker Ben Cullen posted an impressive video of his Clicker cake on Instagram and TikTok, many The Last of Us fans had conflicted feelings about eating the scary-looking dessert. In the one-minute video, Cullen is seen assembling a bust made of chocolate cake, icing, and fondant to sculpt out the Clicker's features, and finishing the creation off with a paint of food coloring to add more depth to the fungal growth and blood in its mouth.

Cullen's cake is a disturbing sight that people might not slice into, either out of fear or because they might not want to ruin the masterpiece. Many of his followers praised his creation, emphasizing the amount of details he put in to make the Clicker look realistic and extra creepy. However, there were also many The Last of Us fans who said they wouldn't dare eat the cake because of its exterior. The Clicker cake still garnered thousands of likes on Instagram and TikTok though, so it seems like people find it impressive either way. In the past, equally creative The Last of Us fans have made Clicker-inspired art, like a mask and sculpture.

In HBO's The Last of Us, fans have gotten a great look at Clickers and other Cordyceps-infected humans, and they can expect to see more in future episodes. The show has yet to introduce Bloaters, the fourth and rarest form of infection that give humans an imposing body covered in fungal growth, and it will be interesting to see how terrifying they will be while hunting down Joel and Ellie.

The Last of Us Part 1 is currently available on PlayStation 5 and will be available for PC on March 28, 2023.
