During Sony's recent State of Play, the world was treated with an in-depth look at The Last of Us 2 with a new trailer featuring Joel and the game's February 21 release date. It doesn't end there, though, as developer Naughty Dog also revealed the four editions of the game available for purchase. These include the Standard Edition, the Special Edition, the Collector's Edition, and the Ellie Edition.
The base version of The Last of Us 2, priced at the standard $60, doesn't have any general bonuses, but it does have a few pre-order bonuses. Those who do will receive an in-game Ammo Capacity Upgrade, Crafting Training Manual, and an exclusive avatar featuring Ellie's tattoo.The Special Edition is up next and is only slightly more, retailing at $79.99.
It comes with the same pre-order bonuses as the TLOU2 standard edition but also includes a dynamic theme, 6 PSN avatars, a steelbook, and 48-page mini-art book. The next two editions, the Collector's and Ellie Edition, are the bigger ones and will set interested parties back $169.99 or $249.99, respectively. Notably, these are not the most expensive special editions out there — the Destroy All Humans Crypto-137 edition costs $400, for example — and the amount of rewards seemingly justifies the price.
In addition to the bonuses found in The Last of Us 2's Special Edition, the Collector's Edition also comes with a sountrack, a 12" Ellie statue, Ellie's Bracelet, Lithograph art print and Thank You letter, 5 stickers, and 6 enamel pins. Once again, the Ellie Edition includes everything listed thus far but also comes with Ellie's backpack, a logo patch, and a vinyl record that plays music from the original contract.
Pre-orders for The Last of Us 2 don't seem to be live every where as of this writing, but they should be soon. There's no doubt these will sell quickly, so many will want to hurry and reserve their copy. That way, nothing prevents them from exploring Naughty Dog's huge world of The Last of Us 2.
The Last of Us 2 will release for the PlayStation 4 on February 21st, 2020.
