It is without a doubt that The Last of Us 2 is one of the most highly-anticipated games this year, which is why many people were disappointed when Naughty Dog announced that the game has been delayed indefinitely. Of course, Naughty Dog postponing The Last of Us 2 is not at all surprising given the massive impact the coronavirus pandemic has had worldwide.

Now, it appears that Naughty Dog is now working hard with Sony to release The Last of Us 2 as soon as possible. This information came from Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann in a Twitter post. Unfortunately, Druckmann did not provide any new release date or release window for The Last of Us 2, nor did he reveal any concrete action plans that Sony and Naughty Dog are planning to do to get the game out in the market and in the hands of players soon.

The Last of Us 2 was supposed to release on May 29 for the PlayStation 4, but due to the global lockdown that is being implemented, Naughty Dog is unable to continue the development of the game. Following the delay, The Last of Us 2 was removed from the PlayStation Store. Of course, apart from production issues, Naughty Dog is also likely facing distribution problems, especially with physical copies of the game, given that a good number of video game stores have since been closed worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As of the moment, there is still no word on when The Last of Us 2 will be released, and Druckmann revealed in the same post that he will return to his "social media cleanse." In the weeks leading up to the delay of The Last of Us 2, news broke out about the crunch culture at Naughty Dog and that many of its original developers could no longer take the pressure and have since left the studio to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Apart from The Last of Us 2, the upcoming Marvel game, Iron Man VR was also delayed indefinitely. The game was supposed to launch on May 15, but similar to The Last of Us 2, its development was halted due to the coronavirus outbreak. As of the moment, it is still unknown which other games that are scheduled to release this year will be affected by the worldwide crisis. However, it is expected that if the coronavirus remains to be a threat in the coming months, more games, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Ghost of Tsushima could also be delayed.
