The Last of Us 2 was released on the PlayStation 4 back in June of 2020. The game was a massive critical success garnering a Metacritic score of 93, one of the highest of the year, as well as earning 300 Game of the Year awards. It sold supremely well too, with developer Naughty Dog moving over four million copies of The Last of Us 2 in its opening release weekend. The game would go on to be the highest-selling first-party title on the PS4 in 2020, beaten only by a single third-party title on the system: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

As such, The Last of Us 2 is a dark, harrowing video game that deals with extreme violence and adult themes. As such, it is a little bit surprising that a fan has decided to make a cute LEGO box art for the title.

Being that The Last of Us Part 2 has sold that many units, it must have a large number of fans, and some of those fans must also be LEGO lovers as well. Reddit user Knutsdeez has posted a mock-up of the game as if it were a LEGO title like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga or LEGO Harry Potter Collection. The theoretical box art showcases characters, Joel and Ellie, in their signature outfits from the game against a dark blurred background.

Reactions to the post have been very positive, with the post grabbing over five hundred upvotes as of writing and other Reddit users wishing that the title was a real thing. Users are finding humor in the juxtaposition of the two properties and imagining The Last of Us 2's most violent moments, like an infamous one involving a golf club, transformed into LEGO game-styled scenes.

LEGO adaptations of existing properties have become increasingly numerous since the franchise first kicked off with LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game back in 2005. The games have since then covered other popular universes like LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, LEGO Marvel's Avengers, and LEGO Batman: The Video Game. While the games may have grown a bit stale over the years as there have been so many produced, there is still a certain charm in seeing fan-favorite properties turned into family-friendly LEGO worlds.

It’s hard to imagine that The Last Of Us 2 will be adapted into a LEGO-verse anytime soon as the titles have yet to use an existing video game property as a base, let alone one as violent as The Last Of Us, but fans can dream. Still, it is always fun to see what talented artists can come up with by combining LEGO with other existing universes.

The Last of Us 2 is available on PS4.
