Released in 2020 to massive critical acclaim, The Last of Us 2 is an emotional, harrowing, and violent action-adventure title. Developed by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us 2 continues the stories of protagonists Ellie and Joel following the events of the first game. While the game has been highly praised by many for its intense gameplay and expressive characters, some fans of the first game found themselves unhappy with the dark direction of the sequel’s story and treatment of certain beloved characters.

One such issue that some players disliked was the inclusion of the character of Abby. Initially introduced as the game’s primary antagonist, she ends up becoming a playable character for the second half of the game, letting gamers see Abby's perspective of The Last of Us 2’s events. Despite some fans’ dislike of Abby and her motivations, many other players have fully embraced her resilience and physicality, deeming her worthy of being a protagonist in the series.

One Reddit user named giuseppinameurer has celebrated the introduction of Abby by creating an incredible oil painting of the character. The dark, moody painting features Abby looking back over her shoulder, scowling, while covered in blood. The muted colors alongside Abby’s distinctive facial features do a fantastic job of capturing the character’s ferocity and grit.

The post has been a hit with the Last of Us Reddit community, earning over 870 upvotes as of writing. Other Reddit users are commending guiseppinameurer’s striking piece for its accurate likeness of The Last of Us 2's Abby and impressive level of detail. Some members are claiming the painting looks remarkably like a screenshot and wishing they could purchase the piece for themselves.
