Sony has confirmed a special limited edition PlayStation 4 Pro console based on The Last of Us 2. The bundle includes The Last of Us 2 game, a specially-designed PS4 Pro, and a special Last of Us 2-themed DualShock 4 controller. However, fans will also be able to purchase The Last of Us 2 controller separately, along with a matching headset and a matching Seagate 2TB hard drive that players can use to greatly expand their console's storage.
The Last of Us 2 DualShock 4 controller will retail for $64.99 USD and is already available for pre-order with an apparent June 5 release date. The Last of Us 2-themed headset, meanwhile, costs $99.99. And finally, The Last of Us 2 Seagate game drive costs $89.99. These prices are comparable to similar products that don't have The Last of Us 2 theme, so any fans of the franchise in the market for this hardware may want to consider picking them up.
The Last of Us 2 controller, console, and other themed items aren't the first time that Sony has created specially-themed hardware for its big exclusive games, and it's unlikely to be the last. It's quite likely that Ghost of Tsushima will receive a similar treatment as we near that game's release date, and it's also quite likely that the upcoming PlayStation 5 will have themed consoles for fans to collect as well.
In the meantime, The Last of Us 2 is set to be one of the biggest PS4 exclusives to date, even in the face of some major setbacks. Not too long ago, major Last of Us 2 spoilers leaked online, dampening many fans' enthusiasm for the game in the process. The frequent delays also hasn't done it any favors, but based on Naughty Dog's incredible track record, it seems likely that The Last of Us 2 will still earn rave reviews upon release, despite any of the backlash that it has experienced over the last few months.
Luckily, The Last of Us 2 release date is right around the corner. Barring any unforeseen issues, The Last of Us 2 will launch on June 19, a whopping six years after the original game released for the PS3. It seems that The Last of Us 2 controller, headset, and external hard drive will be available earlier in June, though, so fans can pick those up ahead of time if desired.
