Troy Baker, the voice actor who has lent his talent to countless games including The Last of Us, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Death Stranding, has peaked some interest from fans with a cryptic tweet on his personal Twitter account. Considering the timing, a number of fans have begun to speculate on the likelihood of this tweet referencing more news on the recently delayed The Last of Us 2.

It should be noted that Baker has worked on more games recently than just The Last of Us 2, and his professional expertise extends beyond voice acting alone. Among his other works, Baker has a number of music albums under his belt, and he currently costars on the YouTube channel Retro Replay, where he plays games alongside fellow voice actor Nolan North.

The cryptic tweet in question simply claims that Baker will have some big news to announce soon, with little indication as to what he's specifically commenting on. While a number of fans immediately turned to more The Last of Us 2 rumors, other fans familiar with his music work have begun anticipating a new album dropping soon. At the time of writing, Baker hasn't yet commented on what the topic of the tweet is, however that hasn't stopped fans from speculating in every possible direction.

It should be noted as well, that Death Stranding's PC release is also on its way soon, and with it may come a new insight on Baker's antagonistic character, Higgs Monaghan. The point is that at the moment, this announcement could be anything, so hopefully fans won't fixate too heavily on The Last of Us 2 as it looks like the game's release is drifting further and further from sight. That being said, if Baker has any information on The Last of Us 2 that he wishes to share, it would always be welcome, as fans are currently starving for anything related to the game.

If fans are correct, and Baker has been cleared to speak on his work in The Last of Us 2, that would certainly be something for fans to be excited about. Joel is easily Baker's most iconic role, which is why it makes sense for fans to immediately assume that this is the topic he would be choosing to address with "big news" as he claims in the tweet. However, it may be best for fans to not hang too heavily on that singular role, as the voice actor's range and portfolio extend to a number of other areas.
