The Last of Us games are some of the most critically acclaimed releases of all time, with The Last of Us 2 holding the honor of the most game of the year awards for a single title. One of the many reasons it received these accolades is for the intricate world Naughty Dog crafted, and this level of detail extends to the weapons of The Last of Us 2.

While a player has highlighted a new detail, it is hardly the first time that fans have made a neat discovery about The Last of Us 2’s weaponry. Earlier this year, a fan realized that modifying a weapon will see Ellie or Abby cleaning their dirty guns. Seeing the weapon go from filthy to shiny is incredibly cool, and it is something that many gamers might not pick up on. The latest detail has to do with pistols, and Abby’s weapon in particular.

As fans of The Last of Us franchise know, Abby and Ellie each have their own lineup of weapons, allowing their two playthroughs to feel distinct. The Military Pistol is one of the starting guns in Abby’s arsenal, and players will likely make a lot of use of this gun as they fight through Seattle. However, the weapon actually hides a neat Easter egg that will only be seen if gamers zoom in on it and read its serial number.

Posted by Reddit user ImAFlyingShark, the serial number for Abby’s weapon is 6-14-2K13, or June 14, 2013. This was a special date for both Naughty Dog and The Last of Us franchise, as it was the release day of the first game in the series. This neat touch on the part of the developer serves as an excellent homage to the game that started it all. With a remake of the first The Last of Us supposedly in the works alongside the HBO series, fans will soon be seeing some new takes on the 2013 classic.

While many commenters loved this detail and thanked the Redditor for posting it, a pair of comments points out that there is even more to take in when it comes to Abby’s pistol. Reddit user steelersman24752 asks what the other serial number could be a reference to, and sure enough, noooooobmaster69 has the answer. 11-19-2K07 is a nod to the release date of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, the first entry in the hugely successful Uncharted series.

With two awesome Naughty Dog Easter Eggs hidden on this one weapon, there is no telling how many secrets gamers have missed in The Last of Us 2. Regardless, this was a terrific discovery on the part of ImAFlyingShark, and the post is absolutely deserving of the 1,300 upvotes it has received thus far.

The Last of Us 2 is available now on PS4.
