The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is coming on July 27, and Capcom released a new trailer today showing off some of what players can expect. The trailer has a lot of details about The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, and even includes some nods to Britain's popular comedy troupe.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was originally revealed as part of Capcom's massive data breach back in November 2020, but brings two The Great Ace Attorney games to the West for the first timeThe Great Ace Attorney games are spin-offs of the Ace Attorney series that sees Phoenix Wright's ancestor traveling to England in the 1800s and teaming up with someone who is strikingly similar to Sherlock Holmes.

The setting is obviously rooted in English culture and history with plenty of homages and references scattered throughout, which can make localization extremely difficult, such as the player's main helper being named Herlock Sholmes. The sharp-eyed folks at Nintendo Life even caught a multitude of easter eggs in just the trailer that references the beloved Monty Python comedy group. The references come in the form of store names spotted in the trailer and include some great names like Cleese and Palin British Tailors, Terry's Lever Watches, and Gilliam Theatre. The references clearly point towards John Cleese, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam, who are all famous members of Monty Python.

Later there are two more Monty Python references as well. One, a store named Brian's Cocoa clearly references one of Monty Python's more popular movies, The Life of Brian. Nintendo Life also points out that a scene at a train station includes a store named Big Richard Chocolates, which they think is a reference to Monty Python's famous "Biggus Dickus" sketch. The Great Ace Attorney series is known for being filled with various references and cultural jokes, so it is no surprise that even the trailer for the title has so many British references.

It is great that Ace Attorney fans in the West are finally going to be able to enjoy these two 3DS titles that hadn't made their way out of Japan until now. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles will also bring Ace Attorney's famous legal battles to more platforms, meaning more fans will be able to pick them up if they don't have a 3DS, which is also great news. It will be fun to see just what other references and jokes from the developers players are able to pick out of the background when the game fully launches.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles releases July 27 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Switch.
