Western fans of Persona 5 are likely excited, as there's plenty of activity surrounding the popular RPG entry right now. Adding to the list is the announcement that Lyn Inaizumi will be performing music from Persona 5 at The Game Awards 2020.

Lyn Inaizumi is the singer behind Persona 5's well-loved soundtrack, providing her vocal talent to the original and Royal renditions of the game, as well as its upcoming spin-off, Persona 5 Strikers. Her music has been widely appreciated by the Persona 5 fandom as one of the many enjoyable aspects of the game.

This news comes by way of an official tweet made by executive producer of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley. Keighley revealed that, as the Game Awards will be held in multiple locations this year, the Tokyo portion of the pre-show will contain a musical performance by Inaizumi featuring music from Persona. There's no further word on what songs she may perform or how long the performance will be, but fans should plan on tuning in if they want to listen to a live rendition of some of their favorite Persona 5 songs.

It makes plenty of sense for The Game Awards to be highlighting Persona 5 during the pre-show. Persona 5 Royal, the expanded spin-off of the original PS3/PS4 RPG, has been nominated for Best RPG of the Year at the awards show, where it will go head-to-head with titles like fellow SEGA game Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Fans may also take this as a sign that something new for Persona 5 Strikers may be shown during The Game Awards. While the official teaser for the western release of the game only just premiered a short time ago, The Game Awards is no stranger to the Persona 5 fandom, also serving as the place where Joker was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during the game's initial DLC fighter pass. With a heavy emphasis on Persona 5 in particular this year, it stands to reason that at the very least, a teaser or new footage of the game may be shown to the audience at some point during the full broadcast.

Thankfully, gamers won't have to wait all too long for either the promise of new Persona 5 Strikers footage or the full game's release. Despite the delay from Atlus and Sega announcing plans to release the game in the west, Persona 5 Strikers is already slated for release in early 2021. As for whether or not it's the final adventure of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, however, remains to be seen.

Persona 5 Strikers is set to release on February 23, 2021 for PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
