This console generation is winding down, which has gamers looking towards the future of the industry. With the new consoles comes new games, and, luckily, it seems that gamers may be hearing about some new titles for the Xbox sooner than anticipated, possibly even at the Game Awards, which already has quite a few games rumored to appear.
Speaking in an interview, Microsoft's Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty revealed that the company has quite a few unannounced projects currently in the works and that there will likely be news on some of them by the time that 2019 is over, stating, "We've got all of our studios working on what their next thing is. I think you're going to see more news before the end of the year with some stuff we haven't talked about." That timeline would line up pretty perfectly for some announcements at the Game Awards on December 12th, which is now just a few weeks away.
While it looks like the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett will put a heavier emphasis on live service games, it's still exciting to see what Microsoft has in the pipeline for 2020 and beyond, especially if its a better peek at what next-gen hardware will actually be capable of. Considering how diverse Xbox's studio line up is, there's sure to be some interesting projects on the horizon.
What's most surprising is that XO19 was just a few weeks ago, and Microsoft made quite a few announcements during the show. The fact that the company still has some tricks up its sleeve is impressive, and it'll be exciting to see what gets deeper dives during next year's E3 press conference. It's possible that there may not be anything major at the Game Awards, but, hopefully, there will be something for fans to get excited for.
Microsoft has been pretty transparent with how powerful the next Xbox will be, revealing some of the specs at E3 earlier this year. Fan still don't know exactly how it will turn out, or even what it will wind up being called, but the next generation, as it stands, appears to be shaping up nicely.
