While the movie tie-in genre tends to deliver some truly awful games, the games that are released usually make sense in terms of the property they are tying in with. There are, however, a few head scratchers that make us truly wonder if the publishers behind these projects realize the blatant cash grab.

Case in point, an Australian classification has been found for a game based upon Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables 2. The classification lists Ubisoft as the publisher for Expendables 2, but it does not list a developer. Most likely, if Ubisoft is working on a tie-in to this testosterone-filled sequel, they are working on it in-house.

Now, to consider the existence of this sequel, you also have to think about the fact that the first Expendables didn’t have a tie-in console game -- although it did have a mobile game and a parody 8-bit title created. The movie itself, while filled to the brim with action, couldn't have possibly delivered an adaptable gameplay experience, and that's most likely we never saw something from it.

Now we have The Expendables 2 (view the trailer here), which might have some more dynamic action set pieces, and focus less on laying waste to nameless bad guys, but we highly doubt it. In all honesty it wouldn't surprise us either way if an Expendables 2 game was in the pipeline — there was, after all, a Battleship game that popped up out of nowhere — but there's just no way it can possibly be good.

The film itself picks up with Stallone's rag-tag group of geriatrics and fresh faces on another mission that has a survival rate below zero. This time the film adds likes of Chuck Norris and Liam Hemsworth, includes larger roles for Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and features Jean-Claude Van Damme as the villain. It's an action film fan's (from the '80s) dream, and it's sure to put a lot of males in the theaters this August.

Like we said before, though, if there is a tie-in game, it's probably best to avoid it.

Would you be interested in playing a video game tie-in for The Expendables 2? Of the action stars featured in the film whom would you most like to play as?
