Fan and reviewer feedback for Eternals has been mixed, to put it bluntly. Is it the absolute worst movie in the MCU’s history or even as a Marvel film overall? That’s a hard question to answer but it doesn’t matter right now. It’s time to stay positive about Eternals because at the end of the day it is still a Marvel movie.

There are plenty of great things to say about Eternals. It’s not jam-packed full of fun one-liners or action-packed scenes akin to the other films in this franchise but it does have its moments. There will be spoilers to properly discuss the very best Eternals has to offer.

8 Nope, Stairs

A scene featuring multiple characters from Eternals

Kit Harrington’s character, Dane, isn’t in the movie much. When he is Dane is a standout character like when the Deviants first attack in London. When he sees Sersi and Sprite take off like a bunch of parkour artists, Dane tries to follow suit.

After attempting to hop over a fence he realizes his limits and decides to take the stairs instead. Hopefully, that comedic timing carries over into the inevitable MCU spinoff, Black Knight.

7 The Plow

Phastos from Eternals

Phastos is the engineer of the group and all he wants to do is help civilization thrive. After he creates a steam engine, the others tell him it’s too advanced for the time period. He frustratingly whips up a plow instead and presents it with both pizazz and disdain.

It’s a hilarious moment. That brings up an interesting question though. Is Phastos responsible for all technology introduced to mankind? There is another scene with him to imply he helped make the atomic bomb so maybe that is the case.

6 He Thought I Was A Vampire

The Bollywood dance number from Eternals

Kingo is, without a doubt, the most charismatic character in the film. Most of this film’s best lines and moments involve him. When he is first introduced after his Bollywood number, which is great in its own right, he tells his friends about how he met his assistant, Karun.

Apparently, Karun thought Kingo was a vampire and tried to stake him multiple times. Karun’s fear makes sense after Kingo later reveals he has portrayed multiple men in his family with himself being the latest in a long line of Bollywood legends.

5 Druig Sucks

Druig from Eternals

Druig is shown as kind of a downer in the movie. Eternals even goes so far as to set him up as a villain which turns out not to be true. When the others find him in the Amazon and he refuses to join, Kingo simply says, “Druig sucks” to which Karun replies, “That he does sir.”

This set piece in general has some great moments in it for this duo. This includes the Druig insult as well as Karun withholding a seemingly endless bag of cameras. Karun is a very dedicated assistant.

4 Fall Collection

A scene featuring multiple characters from Eternals

The ever-growing party of Eternals eventually tracks Phastos down. They learn he has not only taken up a partner, but he adopted a son as well. Ikaris confronts him on the lie that Phastos gave up all technology. Ikaris knows he is lying so he shoots a door to see it absorb his blast.

He tries to prove his point further by smashing down on Phastos’ table, thinking it was Vibranium. The table instead splits in two. It was actually from Ikea which is always a fun store to reference.

3 Gilga-mess

A dinner scene featuring multiple characters from Eternals

Sprite may look like a young girl and her skills in battle can’t match that of Ikaris. However, she’s as skilled a prankster as Loki. She could double as him in season two of the show as some sort of other female Deviant.

One of the more lighthearted pranks she pulls is turning Gilgamesh into a big baby during a big dinner scene. On his bib is the name “Gilga-mess” which is a great pun all around. Even Steve Rogers would appreciate that dad joke. Gilgamesh takes it rather well.

2 Well That Was Very Moving

Sprite from Eternals

The last forty minutes of the film are very dramatic with a lot of in-fighting. Ikaris leaves the party and decides he wants to uphold the mission to sacrifice Earth to the cosmos. Sprite, madly in love with him, joins Ikaris in the final fight. When Sersi is almost at the volcano wherein Tiamat is resting, Sprite confuses her.

She turns into Ajak before literally stabbing Sersi in the back. After it looks like curtains for Sersi, Druig in turn sneaks up behind Sprite and smashes her over the head with a rock, and says something along the lines of “that was very moving.” It’s a nice scene to break the high tension of this final act.

1 I Love You So Much

Kingo and Phastos from Eternals

After the final fight, the remaining heroes gather in Ajak’s home to have pizza and to watch the news. When Phastos’ partner sees the giant Celestial popping out of the water, he asks if they had anything to do with that. In a classic deflect move Phastos just professes his love to him.

Also in this scene is Thena stabbing fruit for Phastos’ child which he is understandably not okay with. Apparently, Thena lost her babysitting privileges. All in all, it’s not a bad final scene with the group together one last time before splitting up again.
