The Elder Scrolls 6 - Dragonstar

Dragonstar hammerfell

The city of Dragonstar is one of the most historic and contested locations within Hammerfell, and would be a fascinating addition to a Hammerfell-set Elder Scrolls title. Dragonstar initially formed as a mining town under the powerful Dragonstar Caravan Company, eventually growing to become one of Hammerfell's nine major kingdoms.

In terms of its geopolitical tension, Dragonstar is unique in its close proximity to the neighboring province of Skyrim, with the Nords and the native Redguard being locked in a bitter and longstanding feud over the city's sovereignty. With the city being split in two between Hammerfell and Skyrim ownership, the potential questlines that the city could foster within The Elder Scrolls 6 are numerous. It could give the events of Skyrim a valuable way into the next game.

The Elder Scrolls 6 - Elinhir

Elinhir Hammerfell

Elinhir is another of Hammerfell's nine kingdoms, located in northeast Hammerfell and garnering its prestige and importance from its reputation as the "City of Mages". Being the primary headquarters of the renowned Blackcaster Mages Guild, Elinhir is said to be one of the most prolific and respected magical locations in the entirety of Tamriel.

Elinhir is one of the few surviving structures left behind by the Nedes, an ancient and forgotten humanoid race that once inhabited Tamriel. The city additionally falls under the contemporary ownership of the Crowns, one of Hammerfell's two key political factions.

The Elder Scrolls 6 - Sentinel

Sentinel Hammerfell

As the capital of the harsh and unforgiving Alik'r Desert and arguably of Hammerfell itself, Sentinel is a city of extreme importance, providing relief and wealth within an otherwise inhospitable land. The city is regarded as the crown jewel of the strategic Iliac Bay, bringing in produce via its bustling docks which are sold within the renowned Sentinel Bazaar. The Elder Scrolls 6 - Stros M'Kai

Stros M'Kai hammerfell

Any representation of Hammerfell would be incomplete without the inclusion of Stros M'Kai, an island-city located off the southwestern coast of the province. Home to a number of profitable ports and resource-rich rivers, Stros M'Kai has also held huge strategic importance for both Hammerfell itself and the Septim Empire. Stros M'Kai was one of the first locations that came under siege by the Empire in their efforts to claim sovereignty over Hammerfell, allowing them to gain a foothold within the province. The city was historically held by the Crowns, a more nationalistic faction, only heightening the tension caused by the Empire's eventual inhabitance of the island-city.

The Elder Scrolls 6 - Taneth

Taneth Hammerfell

The city of Taneth is absolutely imperative in truly understanding the history of Hammerfell. Another of Hammerfell's nine kingdoms, Taneth is controlled by the Forebears. Taneth is one of the earliest Redguard settlements in all of Hammerfell, being traced back directly to the Ra Gada population who first immigrated to the largely uninhabited land due to the mysterious collapse of their native continent of Yokuda. The longstanding nature of Taneth makes it inherently one of the most influential and important cities across Hammerfell, with it being the home of several influential Redguard families that can trace their lineage across Eras back to some of Hammerfell's most watershed moments.

The Elder Scrolls 6 - Skaven

skaven hammerfell

Skaven, or Skav'yn, is another kingdom city within Hammerfell, located in the heart of the Alik'r Desert. Skaven has only ever been prominently displayed within The Elder Scrolls: Arena, meaning it is ripe for a more thorough representation within a more modern title.

Skaven was the stage of one of the bloodiest battles in the aforementioned Great War of the Fourth Era, in which the nationalist Altmer consort known as the Aldmeri Dominion attempted to overthrow the Empire. While the city was lost to the Aldmeri for some time, it was famously recaptured by a ragtag enclave of Redguard soldiers, acting as a true testament to the might and heroism of Hammerfell's Redguard warriors.

The Dragonstar Caravan Company moved their headquarters to the relatively close Skaven in the Second Era due to the tension within Dragonstar, adding another element of intrigue to the potential portrayal of Hammerfell and its cities. Given the huge array of different environments and political contexts upon which the many important cities of Hammerfell stand, it is no wonder that the province is so heavily rumored and desired to be the primary setting of The Elder Scrolls 6.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently in development.
