The Elder Scrolls franchise is famous for expansive world-building, including hundreds of unique NPCs, enemies, and creatures to discover. While The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in development, the hope is that Bethesda will add more playable races to the pantheon that has existed in the franchise for years. Some fans who also enjoy The Elder Scrolls Online might know that the franchise has dozens of different humanoid creatures who would be a perfect fit as playable races. From Spiderkith to half-giants, more playable races would be a significant upgrade for The Elder Scrolls 6.

For years, the playable races in The Elder Scrolls franchise have been primarily left untouched and emphasize human characters overall. The Argonians and Khajit are the only two playable races that are non-human, and they have notably received less in-game representation than their human counterparts. While Elder Scrolls fans are debating whether The Elder Scrolls 6 should take place in Hammerfell or High Rock, there is ample possibility that the game will allow players to travel to multiple provinces. This development would allow more playable races to exist, giving players access to unique playstyles and storytelling potential.

Harpies

Harpy From The Elder Scrolls Online

Harpies have been a mainstay of fantasy lore, including The Elder Scrolls franchise. While they're frequently encountered in The Elder Scrolls Online as low-level enemies, it would be awesome to play as a character with harpy-like abilities. Harpies have quite complex lore in the franchise - it's rumored that the creatures were once a group of cruel Daedra worshippers who were turned into bird-like creatures. Funnily enough, relations between harpies and humans have occurred in Elder Scrolls lore, creating the possibility for a playable race.

Lilmothiit

The Lilmothiit are part of Elder Scrolls history but have not been included in any game. Also known as "Fox-Folk," the Lilmothiit are a race of vulpine-humanoid creatures who once inhabited the Black Marsh - another location rumored to be included in The Elder Scrolls 6. They are a nomadic tribal group rumored to be related to the Khajit and created the settlements of Lilmoth and Blackrose that are accessible in The Elder Scrolls Online. While the race is possibly extinct, early concept art from ESO establishes the possibility that the Lilmothiit were supposed to become part of the franchise at one point.

Fauns

Fauns are a race of "beast folk" creatures resembling some elements of the Satyr from Greek Mythology. They can be found in The Elder Scrolls Online in High Isle and Galen. While Fauns are rumored to be druidic and connected to nature spirits, their trickster nature has caused violent clashes with Bretons. Fauns can control nature magic, call Spriggans to their aid, and are known to play the pan flute. Given the prevalence of runic and nature magic in The Elder Scrolls, it would be awesome to play a race that could emphasize that connection and add some mischief.

Spiderkith

Elder Scrolls Spiderkith

The Elder Scrolls 6 could also introduce playable Daedric characters into the mix. One possible choice is the Spiderkith, a race of humanoid Daedra who serve Mephala, the Daedric Prince associated with murder, intrigue, and lies. Spiderkith in The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset are able to use magic and martial abilities, weave webs, and raise spiders to aid in combat or keep them as pets. Spiderkith feed on mortal flesh as well, possibly giving players powers similar to the Ring of Namira in Skyrim. Not to forget, Spiderkith are also some of the coolest-looking creatures in Elder Scrolls lore.

Half-Sea Giants

Any Elder Scrolls Online player who has worked with the personal bodyguard of the emperor Lyris Titanborn, has met a half-giant. While typical half-giants aren't all too different from the humanoid races, half-sea giants are another story. Sea giants are near-mythological creatures who sail the seas of Tamriel in massive longboats. They harness powerful shock and frost magic and are rumored to be able to control water. A playable half-sea giant race could receive special boosts to magic, resistance to cold, buffs to strength, and hail from the Sea of Ghosts or Ysmgar's Beach in Western Skyrim.

Hadolids

ESO Hadolid

Hadolids are the ultimate way to honor the iconic Skyrim mudcrabs. The Hadolids are a race of amphibious, crablike beast folk native to the Abcean Sea, the body of water between Cyrodil, Hammerfell, Summerset Isle, and Valenwood. The Hadolid race can live underwater for long periods and wield powerful water-based magic and weapons. Hadolids are featured in The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle expansion pack and are commonly seen alongside lizard-like companions called Pangrits. Not only are Hadolids an incredible race to explore, but they could justify expanding undersea exploration in The Elder Scrolls 6.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development.
