A GameStop sales associate confirms that DLC for Tom Clancy's The Division will be available on Xbox One for a full 30 days before it hits PlayStation 4.
With all the hype surrounding Tom Clancy's The Division, it looks like Microsoft has made a good bet by partnering with Ubisoft to make the game best on Xbox One. We've seen The Division receive preferential Xbox treatment already, with The Division beta hitting Xbox One first, and now we've learned of another way that the game favors Microsoft's eighth generation console.
As confirmed by a GameStop sales associate in a promotional video for the game, The Division's DLC will be on Xbox One first. Xbox owners will have a full 30 days to experience the DLC before PlayStation 4 owners, though it's unclear if PC gamers will have to wait that long as well.
The GameStop video (which is embedded below) currently has more thumbs down ratings than it does thumbs up. It appears as though PS4 owners feel slighted by this development, though it shouldn't have come as too much of a shock considering how heavily Microsoft has been pushing The Division, giving time to the game during its E3 2015 presentation, and securing first dibs on its betas.

Furthermore, the PlayStation 4 has enjoyed plenty of exclusivity deals itself. For example, Destiny has a lot PlayStation-exclusive content, and it's also worth mentioning that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC releases on PS4 first. In fact, PS4 owners can play Black Ops 3 DLC exclusively for the same amount of time that Xbox One owners will be able to access The Division DLC. Considering this, it's hard to fault Microsoft for attempting to make up for losing timed exclusivity on Call of Duty DLC by carving out similar deals with The Division.
Even though PS4 owners will have to wait a little longer than Xbox One owners to play The Division's DLC, they will still likely enjoy The Division's free content updates at the same time as Xbox users. There are timed exclusivity deals for DLC across both platforms, so hopefully it doesn't upset PS4 Division enthusiasts too much. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see more of The Division's planned expansions and learning whether or not any of them will open up new areas of New York to explore, as has been speculated.
