Without a doubt, Tom Clancy's The Division fans are incredibly excited about the direct followup to the third-person shooter coming out next year, as the sequel has already managed to set a beta registrations record for Ubisoft. Of course, while fans wait patiently for the second entry's upcoming pre-release test, the publisher and developer plans to continue supporting the original title in the franchise, as a recent update made the Global Event known as Assault live yet again.

According to a post on the official forums for The Division, the Ubisoft Community Manager known as "Ubi-Johan" made Agents aware of the Assault Global Event's return, as it officially began on July 30, 2018, and ends on August 6, 2018 at 1:00 AM PT. Those who take part in the event will receive Global Event credits to obtain Global Event caches, which have the chance to drop all-new classified gear sets, standard gear sets, and exotics. Additionally, players can receive some fresh face masks by completing commendations tied to the event.

As explained by Ubisoft, The Division's latest Global Event for 2018 is going to work exactly the same way that Assault has in the third-person shooter's past. To be specific, a Global Modifier will allow Agents to dish out stronger doses of close range damage, with an Activity Modifier called Crucial Assault giving enemies stronger long range damage, and a Group Modifier dubbed Major Assault letting squads who stick together deal more damage.

Taking all of this into account, it's great to see that Ubisoft is still giving The Division fans plenty to do well after the action-RPG's initial launch back in 2016, as it will certainly make players' transitions from the first game into the second one that much smoother. Hopefully, though, The Division 2 doesn't suffer the same fate of the original by having an abysmal day one launch plagued with server problems.

Tom Clancy's The Division is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
