Following in the footsteps of EA's take on the looter-shooter genre with Anthem, Ubisoft is set to give many players their first taste of The Division 2 this coming weekend. It's been well documented that developer Massive Entertainment has learned a lot from its up and down experience with the first game in the franchise, promising more content for players to dig into at launch of The Division 2 this time around. In addition to specializations that unlock at level 30, Ubisoft is aiming to have plenty of high-end content to keep players coming back. Part of that plan is set to include new missions called Raids.

In a recent interview, Lead Designer Keith Evans spoke about the end game and how the studio is working to make sure the game has way more replayability to keep players hooked over the coming months and years. For The Division 2, the team changed its mindset, expanding the thinking beyond the journey from level 1-30 or even just reclaiming Washington, DC. Part of it was also making sure players had plenty of new things to discover in the world as well as making sure there was content, such as the aforementioned Raids, available once players arrived at the endgame.

Raids were a hot topic at E3 2018 for The Division 2, and these 8 player missions are completely different from anything the first game had to offer. According to Evans, these missions have been in development for a very long time and the team is aiming to have these missions be more than just upping the intensity from something like an incursion mission. In The Division 2, raids are less about the level of the mission and will require players with the best gear to have to really jump in and discover for themselves.

For those who pre-ordered the game already and are taking part in the private beta, the most recent trailer detailed a lot of what players can expect. In addition to two story missions, the beta contains a number of endgame specific content for players to try out including three specializations like the crossbow-wielding Survivalist and one Invaded Mission. In addition to organized PvP, players can also experience the newly revamped Dark Zone areas of the map which contain powerful loot, NPC enemies, and other players who may not be as friendly as they seem.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is scheduled to release on March 15, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
