Earning SP In The DioField Chronicle
Unlike most RPGs, JRPGs, and tactical RPGs, there isn't a way to grind out levels and gain more SP points in The DioField Chronicle. To earn Skill Points, players must complete all the tasks in a mission. Before every mission, there are optional tasks, such as finishing a quest within an allotted time or making sure no allies fall in battle. For all the completed tasks, the Units will gain more Skill Points.
The Skill Tree
The DioField Chronicle takes place in a Fire Emblem-like base to access skills and rooms. To access the Skill Tree in The DioField Chronicle, players must take the right corridor from the entrance and head north. The room containing the Skill Tree Book is on the right. The Practice Table, researcher, and mercenary are also in this room. The Skill Tree book is waiting on the desk next to the Researchers with the strange masks.
In the Skill Tree menu, players can upgrade a Unit's skills. To access each Unit class, press the L1 and R1, LB and RB on Xbox, and L and R on the Switch. Unlocking the character's first skill on the Skill Tree will also award the Training and Results Trophy/Achievement on the PlayStation and Xbox systems.
Practice Mode
As stated above, there's no way to grind and traditionally collect SP in The DioField Chronicle like other titles in the genre. Skill Points are gained by fulfilling as many tasks as possible in each mission. However, it won't always be possible to get every challenge in a mission, and that's where Practice Mode comes in. The Practice Mode allows players to replay old missions and fulfill previously uncompleted tasks to get the remaining SP. It's easier to achieve this when the Units are stronger and more capable, especially where there is a time limit. The Practice Table is in the same room as the Skill Tree Book.
