The first season of The Devil is a Part-Timer is nearly a decade old, and the second season is quickly approaching with the announced release date coming soon. The aforementioned season covered the first two light novels, and with 19 more light novels left to cover, there is a large amount of potential with the second season of The Devil is a Part-Timer. The anime for The Devil is a Part-Timer is a slice-of-like isekai comedy. The television series follows Satan as he is sent to modern-day Tokyo after being confronted by Hero Emilia Justina, who was protecting a chain of islands known as Ente Isla.

Once entering the human world, Satan has lost his powers and must learn to live in the human world. Hilarity ensues, from having to learn how to take care of a human body to working a food service job to make ends meet. Without spoiling too much of the first season, Satan uses the last of his acquired magic to clean up after a devastating fight with a foe and leaves a lot of questions about where the next season will continue without it. Having the character arcs developed, Satan's magical reserves empty, and the anime ending with everyone living happily in the human world, what can watchers of season two expect? Especially considering there are some major changes from the light novel in the original first season, The Devil Is A Part-Timer has many potential avenues it can go down.

The Events Of The First Season

The second season of The Devil is a Part-Timer looks as though it will pick up where the first season left off. Below is a brief explanation of the events of the first season, without any major spoilers.

Dark Lord Satan, along with his supernatural generals, attempts to take over the islands of Ente Isla to take control of the humans who live there. Satan is stopped by Hero Emilia Justina, and subsequently banished to modern-day Sasazuka, Japan along with Aciel, one of Satan's generals. Once in the human world they've realized they've both lost their magical abilities and forms. In order to live in this world, they now have to pass themselves off as regular humans and learn to blend into society until they've recovered their abilities.

This leads to the Dark Lord Satan getting a job at MgRonalds, and surprisingly excelling at it. Satan, who now goes by the 'human' name Sadao Maou, soon discovers that Hero Emilia Justina has also been transported to this world at the expense of her own powers. The two form an unlikely bond while they remain powerless in the human world. They, along with Aciel, find their parts of society in Sasazuka and begin to enjoy their new human lives.

Although the anime mainly advertises the comedy and slice-of-life aspects, there is also trouble brewing with the former generals of Dark Lord Satan. Former friends of Satan have begun to show up in the human world and cause mayhem and destruction, which Satan must fight against as he has grown to love the human world and his place there. Without giving away the entire ending here, the anime ends with our cast of supernatural beings living a peaceful and fulfilling life in Sasazuka, along with new friends.

What Has The Trailer Revealed About Season Two?

The trailer reveals quite a bit of what to expect from the second season of The Devil Is A Part-Timer. Before delving into the sneak peeks the trailer reveals of the plot, it is important to note that there is a different studio in charge of producing the anime this time around.

The original season was produced and animated by White Fox, who is known for anime such as Steins;Gate and Re:ZERO Starting Life in Another World. The second season of The Devil Is A Part-Timer is manned by Studio 3Hz, which is best known for Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online and Princess Principal. Despite this, the original Japanese cast is all returning to reprise their roles.

The trailer reveals much more than a new studio and animation style, however. Along with glimpses into the daily life of the returning characters, there is the introduction of a character from the light novel series, a little girl named Alas Ramus. After being birthed from a golden apple, she claims to be the child of Satan and Hero Amelia Justina.

This confirms the next season will at the very least follow parts of the third volume, in which Alas Ramus is introduced. Much of the light novel involves hilarious hijinks with Satan and Hero Emilia learning to work together and co-parent their newfound child. Whether this season will follow events of the third and fourth light novel and keep the two-novel-per-season pattern, as the first season followed the first two light novels, is so far unconfirmed. What is confirmed, however, is a release date in July 2022.

What Happens In The Third Light Novel?

Since the appearance of Alas Ramus confirms that this season is drawing off the third light novel, the predictions below focus on the events of the third volume of The Devil is a Part-Timer with the least amount of spoilers possible. Major plot twists and conclusions to important events will not be mentioned below. The light novel opens with a short scene in the demon world. The demon fortress is visited by a beautiful female archangel, who after sensing intruders leaves the abandoned fortress, carrying a mysterious plant found there.

We are then brought back to modern-day Sasazuka, Japan. Suzuno, Satan's neighbor introduced in season one, attempts to poorly build a fire to commemorate the Obon festival she heard about from Satan, who is still going by the human name Maou. After Satan stops her to teach her how to safely start a fire, Suzuno gets into a fight with Emilia, just as a bright light appears in the sky.

After this bright light, a golden apple appears on the ground. After Emilia gets into another fight, this time with Satan holding up the hand holding the apple in self-defense, the apple causes a small sleeping child to appear. Once the child wakes up, she reveals her name is Alas Ramus, and it is assumed she is from Ente Isla. The little girl immediately claims Satan and Emilia as her parents, and with no other leads on what to do, Satan and Emilia begin co-parenting.

Alas Ramus isn't all she seems. Not only did they observe a glowing crescent moon on her head, but the angel Gabriel claims to be her guardian and that it is his duty to bring her back where she belongs. Alas Ramus protests this, going so far as to say she hates Gabriel, and Satan decides to protect her from Gabriel. This, in turn, leads to the main conflicts of the light novel, which will not be spoiled here.

Of course, what happened in the third volume of the light novel may not happen in the anime; not all anime follow their source material religiously. Still, at least some of these elements should make an appearance, as Alas Ramus is seen clearly in the trailer and promotional material. What happens in season two will be revealed this July, so for now, all we can do is wait and see how the studio handles the second season of The Devil is a Part-Timer.
