The development of the upcoming zombie-survival MMO The Day Before has been relatively quiet for several months. Today the studio behind the game, Fntastic, showed off some new features, helping fans familiarize themselves with some of its more MMO-like qualities.

Showcased through the IGN YouTube channel, the CBO of the game's publisher MYTONA, Diana Weng, as well as Fntastic founders Aisen and Ed Gotovtsev, appeared on camera to introduce some of the key elements coming to The Day Before that the footage highlights. The main talking point revolved around a common area in the city where players can meet up with others, share supplies, and generally relax.

These sorts of safe zones are common among MMOs and seem like a nice respite from the tense survival environments that The Day Before throws at its players. Also featured in the trailer was a look at an intricately furnished interior of a multi-story shopping mall, just one of the many environments that fans have been promised that they'll be able to explore in the game. Additionally, the game will include base building and weapon customization options for players who don't want to be too cramped in the inner-city strongholds.

Notably, the trailer lists the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S as platforms that The Day Before is coming to. Up to this point, Fntastic had expressed the desire to publish the game on home consoles but hadn't confirmed if a release was coming. The trailer makes it clear, however, that it won't be a cross-generational title and that it's only coming to the newest generation of consoles. This makes sense based on the amount of detail and graphical fidelity showcased in the gameplay trailers, as The Day Before seems to be pretty demanding on its hardware.

The other major reveal in the trailer is a finalized release date for The Day Before. The title is set to release on June 21, 2022, but the announcement comes with a catch: it'll only be released on the PC at that point with its console counterparts coming sometime after. There's been plenty of speculation regarding console versions of The Day Before, so news that versions are coming is certainly exciting, but, so far, console players have been left primarily in the dark.

Release dates have been tricky to nail down as of late due to the ongoing pandemic, so fans should potentially be cautious about planning their lives around the MMOs release. Based on the footage that's been shown so far, The Day Before seems to be in a good place already, potentially giving hope that the project is going to stick to its first release date.

The Day Before is scheduled to release on June 21, 2022, for PC with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
