Supermassive Games will release The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, the first in a planned anthology series of Until Dawn-style horror games, on August 30. However, the studio is already teasing the next game in the series, which is called The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, with a planned 2020 release date.

Like Until Dawn and Man of Medan before it, The Dark Pictures: Little Hope features some Hollywood star power. Whereas Shawn Ashmore starred in Man of MedanLittle Hope features Will Poulter. While he may not be immediately recognizable to some, he has built some credit with horror fans, having appeared in the interactive Black Mirror: Bandersnatch from Netflix as well as the critically-acclaimed 2019 horror movie Midsommar, which was directed by Hereditary's Ari Aster.

The trailer for The Dark Pictures: Little Hope plays after the credits of Man of Medan, and it gives fans somewhat of an idea of what to expect from the next game. The "Little Hope" in the title references a town, and there appears to be some supernatural goings-on. It features the classic horror movie trope of "scary little girl," and there may be some witchcraft or other occult happenings at work. The trailer is admittedly pretty vague and leaves a lot open for interpretation, but it's enough to at least offer an idea of the kind of horror story Little Hope will be trying to tell.

We know that Supermassive has at least eight games in development, and it's possible that all of these games are planned to be a part of its The Dark Pictures series. If so, a teaser for the next game in the series could become standard for each new game. This should at the very least encourage fans to stick around after the credits, not unlike Marvel has achieved with its Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

While fans wait for more information on The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, they can check out The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan starting on August 30. In our Man of Medan review, we gave the cinematic horror game a decent score, and praised its fun multiplayer mode.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope will launch in 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
