The Boys doesn't get enough credit for keeping its fictional world going through its corporation's social media account, even when the show itself isn't airing new episodes. Vought International revealed that it will set up a new foundation headed by The Deep, who recently returned to The Seven after leaving due to inappropriate work conduct.

The foundation itself is called "The Timothy Foundation," which is named after The Deep's friend Timothy, an Octopus who Vought claims was killed by a predator earlier this year. Because of kinship with The Deep, The Boys' supe has decided to set up a charity in Timothy's name to honor his memory.

While posting a video of The Deep entailing what the foundation will be about, Vought International had the following caption to go with it. "This year, we lost one of Deep’s dear friends Timothy, who was sadly eaten by a predator. We can’t bring back Timothy, but we can try to make oceans safer for cephalopods on World Octopus Day. Vought is proud to offer continued support, thoughts, and prayers for Timothy’s family!" Because The Deep's superpowers are connected to aquamarine life, which he can communicate with, it makes sense that he would want to set up a charity in his fallen friend's name.

Of course, this foundation has been set up out of guilt by Vought after Homelander forced The Deep to eat Timothy as a sign of gratitude for allowing him back into The Seven, which is what The Deep desperately wanted after he was forced out. Although The Boys has made it clear through The Deep how useless a superhero like Aquaman is compared to some of the other superheroes in his universe, they have made it a point that The Deep, at the very least, cares about sea life. Unfortunately, it seems as though his rapport with any underwater creature eventually gets them killed whether by his doing or because of his association with Vought.

The Deep has largely been a comic relief character since The Boys started airing in 2019, but they have given his character arc a few twists and turns in this past season. Between his split from his "wife" and his act of treason to favor the supes politically, The Deep now has to figure out what truly matters most to him. Initially, he blindly sided with Homelander no matter what the psychotic supe asked him to do, and now he's been asked to do things way out of his comfort zone, like eating his friend Timothy and killing a senator. One can only wonder what will be The Deep's breaking point, especially since Homelander made it clear to him how little he values his teammate in this past season's finale.

While the running gag that The Deep is pretty much useless as a superhero, a recurring joke can be funny for so long before it gets grating. There has to be a point to The Deep as a character in the long run besides being the butt of a joke. The Boys has hinted that some of the characters are starting to turn new leaves. Even if this foundation comes off as superficial, this could mark the turning point where The Deep actually commits heroic acts.

The Boys seasons 1-3 can currently be streamed on Amazon Prime.
