The Boys recently finished airing on July 8th, but fans didn't have to wait long for news on the next installment of the hit show. Now that filming for season 4 is underway, showrunner Eric Kripke has teased fans with a picture of season 4, episode 1's script, which also features the title for the episode.

The irreverent take on the superhero genre recently cast two new heroes and bumped up Cameron Corvetti to series regular in preparation for the fourth season. The Boys quietly confirmed that filming had also begun for the next season this weekend, as several of the show's actors posted pictures of the cast on set and in costume.

Now, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has added to the hype by posting a Tweet that simply read "Day One." The Tweet included a picture of season 4 episode, 1's script and revealed the episode will be titled "Department of Dirty Tricks," a very apt title for The Boys now that the supe-hunting squad is a government-funded organization. The script also reveals that the episode will be written by David Reed and directed by Phil Sgriccia.

Following season 3's explosive ending, predictions for The Boys season 4 are difficult to make. The season ended with a huge shake-up of the status quo. Butcher appears to have only months left to live, Homelander's son Ryan has seemingly embraced his father's way of thinking, and Annie has shed her alter ego Starlight, joining the Boys on a permanent basis. And, perhaps most worryingly, Homelander publicly killed a man, only to be met with more cheering and adoration than ever before. It's a bleak set-up heading into season 4 (though the satire is no stranger to bleakness).

It's certain that Ryan will have a bigger role to play now that Corvetti will be a series regular. Butcher gave up his shot at killing Homelander last season, but will he give up another one? He clearly cares for Ryan, but the stakes are higher now that he may only have a few months to live. Should Butcher choose to try and regain Ryan's trust, he may lose some of the valuable time he has left that he can use to put down Homelander for good.

Homelander, meanwhile, appears to be getting deeper into the political arena. Last season ended with Senator Victoria Neuman firmly in his pocket and as the running mate for presidential candidate Robert Singer, Vought is poised to grow ever more influential, and the Boys may face some of their toughest opposition yet now that Hughie no longer works for Neuman.

The Boys seasons 1-3 are now available on Amazon Prime.
