Following his standout performance as Negan on The Walking Dead since joining the show in 2016, Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character in The Boys season 4 will follow in those footsteps.

Actor Nathan Mitchell, who portrays the silent and somehow not-dead Black Noir, previewed what Morgan's character will be like when he shows up in season 4 of The Boys. For obvious reasons, Mitchell couldn't spoil much since Morgan will play a new character, but he made it clear that who Morgan plays in the upcoming season will stand out to the show's audience.

In an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Mitchell made it clear that fans will like what they see from Morgan on The Boys because of how awesome his character is. "I would say his sun sign is ‘Badass’, and his moon sign is ‘You don’t even want to f***ing know,’" Mitchell said. "I don’t know how much can be revealed about that character, but I think the coolest thing about this show is we’re always going in different directions and showing you different storylines and different characters in ways you wouldn’t expect. So I think that Jefferey Dean Morgan is going to play a role that stays with fans for a long time."

Since starting the show in 2019, The Boys has made a name for itself by establishing memorable characters primarily because it takes all the clichés about superheroes and flips them all on its head. Although the Seven do their duty in serving the public, it's clear that behind the scenes, they're not good people and do what they do primarily for good PR and sponsorships. Even if none of them are good people, their motivations are human. The same goes for the boys themselves. Even if they are trying to expose the supes' wrongdoings, the show has also established that they aren't much better. Adding Morgan, who expertly portrayed a tyrant, could add more flavor to the show with his inclusion.

Perhaps what will be most intriguing is seeing what dimension Morgan will bring when his character is introduced. While the characters in the show are all bad yet human, they all have different motivations and backgrounds. Following a not-as-well-received second season, The Boys hit a home run by introducing Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy in season 3, where he started as a broken man who simply wanted revenge on his former team for betraying him only to be exposed as a psychopathic monster who abused everyone around him to the point where everything that happened to him felt like a well-deserved comeuppance. Morgan's reputation should make fans optimistic that they can strike gold again.

Morgan is not the only character who will be added to the show's upcoming season, and all indications are Mitchell will be back as Black Noir for next season, so the one concern is if the show is getting overstuffed with too many characters. If that happens, eventually, the story either gets stretched out like it did on Stranger Things, or the new characters become completely pointless unless some of the older characters are removed from the show. The Boys put themselves back on track with season 3 and having Morgan should continue the good times, but they have to watch where they go if they want to keep control of the steering wheel.

The Boys seasons 1-3 can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
