When The Boys returns to Amazon Prime for Season 3, the series is going to be bringing one of the raunchiest, most outrageous, and most fan-beloved events from the comics along with it. Fans of The Boys comics certainly know what the Herogasm is. Now those that have become fans of the show are about to find out, though it will be interesting to see just how the Amazon Prime show changes things.

One of the benefits of The Boys being on Amazon Prime is that the show is able to be exactly as crazy, gross, and outrageous as the comic books call for from its storylines. It's still going to be quite interesting to see if the series can hold a candle to the absolute insanity that tends to go along with the convention that's known as the Herogasm. It's also something that is going to be quite hard to live up to in the imaginations of The Boys fans. There are going to be some who expect a level of debauchery that the show still might not be able to show on screen, even if Amazon gives the showrunners quite a bit of leeway when it comes to what's allowed on the series.

What Exactly Is The Herogasm For The Boys

The Boys Herogasm scene

When showrunner Eric Kripke first confirmed that the Herogasm was coming to The Boys in Season 3, it got tongues wagging. The people behind the program likely have a pretty good idea about how big a hill they are going to be climbing. It's possible that some of the people who have caught onto the show since it went live-action do not. This is, after all, one of those shows that's based on a comic that Marvel or DC fans might have never run across. Those who came to the show because they love the idea of Superman and The Flash being a bit more realistic are likely going to be taken aback by this new development, even if they've already seen a man get his head crushed in the middle of sex with a supe.

What Herogasm really is and what the public in The Boys thinks it is, happens to be two very different things. At its core, the event is a way for all of the heroes that work for and through Vought to get together and spend some time together without the need to fight crime or preen for the public. They can, at their core, drop the facade and just be themselves. However, the public thinks this is a kind of team up where the heroes get together to discuss the world's problems or fight some kind of world-threatening crisis. However, once Herogasm starts, it tends to be a situation that causes more problems than it solves.

In the comics, Herogasm is an annual retreat where Homelander and the rest of the Vought heroes meet on a remote tropical resort for a company-sponsored orgy. Over the course of one weekend, there is nothing that is off limits when it comes to the amusement of those that are taking part in the event. There is literally nothing out of bounds, whether it's illegal or not. There is nothing that is not made available to the people responsible for protecting the planet. That includes the fact that Vought is willing to pay various sex workers $100,000 each to make themselves available for whatever the heroes decide they want to try. That massive amount of money is both to make sure that the people brought in

After spending several days getting drunk, stoned, having all kinds of sex, and generally debasing themselves as they saw fit, the heroes of The Boys would return home and back into the public eye with the public having no idea what exactly the supes had been up to during the Herogasm weekend. There were more than a few times when the debauchery had gotten so bad and so crazy, that there have even been some characters that never came back from the weekend because they died. All of this is expertly covered up by the same company that threw the event and created the "heroes" in the first place.

Soldier Boy's Entrance To The Boys?

One of the interesting aspects of Herogasm and what it means for Season 3 of The Boys is that it could be the vehicle that introduces one of the new characters. At the very least it could be the one that sheds some real light on Soldier Boy and what he wants from Homelander and the rest of The Seven. In the comics, Soldier Boy ends up sleeping with Homelander in order to try and get a position with the very famous group of crime fighters.

It might be a little far-fetched that this particular scene between Soldier Boy and Homelander will take place as there's never been any indication the live-action version of evil Super-Man has any tendency to do that sort of thing. It does seem as though there's a very good chance he'll play a very big part in what happens before, during, and after the Herogasm.

There is another event in the comics that could take place in the show that would certainly introduce a whole new storyline. In one particular book, Hughie and some other members of his gang sneak into the Herogasm, but he is among those that get found out. That story has Black Noir sexually assaulting him and Hughie is so ashamed of what happened that he doesn't tell any of his cohorts for quite some time. It's possible something similar could be happening to Jack Quaid in the Amazon Prime series.

There's still a rather big question about just how far Kripke is going to be taking Herogasm during the third season of the popular Amazon Prime show. It's hard to know if this is going to be a kind of shot-for-shot recreation of the event, but it's a safe bet that viewers of The Boys are going to be in for a rather wild ride.
