Jensen Ackles opened up about his most recent scene in Amazon's The Boys and how much of his confrontation with the Crimson Countess was cut for time.

Ackles, who joined the cast of The Boys season three as Soldier Boy, shared that there was much more to the scene than what the directors left in. With this being his first confrontation with someone from his old team, many fans expected things to go much deeper and darker than what was shown.

In the episode, Soldier Boy arrives at the Crimson Countess' trailer (following a hilarious cameo by Seth Rogan) to get answers as to why he was tortured in Russia for so many years. It's revealed to the audience that it was his former girlfriend who betrayed him and disclosed his weakness to the Russians so that they could take him away and throw him in a cell for torture and testing. She reveals that she never loved him, and everyone else on the Payback team hated him. In response, he kills her with an energy blast. "We come to find out what happened in later episodes. But he wants to find out from her first why he ended up where he ended up," Ackles said to press outlets. "To be honest, when we filmed that scene, it was a lot longer. I think they had to cut it down for time or whatever. But it got pretty heated, that conversation, and Soldier Boy gets really verbally explosive. They cut that out. And I think it probably serviced the scene better, because he does stay calm now, throughout the whole thing. And then it's just boom. I think it works just great the way they cut it together."

Ackles went on to share how this scene will help shape Soldier Boy as a character down the line and his relationships with other characters. "When he starts going around, and ticking off the names on his to-do list, we get a greater sense of who he was, what happened to him, and the kind of character that not only he was back then, but that he is currently in this new world that he's found himself in – this fish out of water," he said. "And I think that he finds a lot of similarities, too, with what Butcher's aligning with and what he's trying to do. But they certainly come at it from a couple of different angles. They certainly have their faults."

While Ackles' Soldier Boy is still somewhat of a newbie to the series, fans can expect much more from his character in the upcoming episodes. With shocking plot twists and the usual expected gore and excitement The Boys brings, fans are anxiously waiting to see what becomes of Soldier Boy and his newfound alliance with Hughie and Butcher.

The Boys is now streaming on Amazon Prime with new episodes every Friday.
