The bloody, magical, and also bloody world of The Boys is almost ready to impose itself on the weak constitutions of viewers everywhere once again. Amazon Prime's series about a world where superheroes are real and pretty much all kind of jerks has plenty more stories to tell, and newcomer Jensen Ackles looks like he'll make for a heck of an addition as Soldier Boy.

After the recent announcement that The Boys would return for season 3 on June 3rd, fans got understandably hungry for some new info on their favorite chronicle of exploding heads. This close to release, there's bound to be plenty to show off. Luckily, The Boys' official Twitter account has got folks covered, at least as far as vague, single teaser images are concerned.

The account posted a shot featuring former Supernatural star Ackles as Soldier Boy, who will be making his debut this season. Surrounded by burning rubble and standing a dramatic distance away, Ackles' character gives off a pretty epic and mysterious vibe. Granted, the mystery is less about who he is and more about whether he's the one who exploded all the buildings.

The image was paired with a rather intriguing caption saying, "Is this Soldier Boy or a Jon McNaughton painting?" McNaughton is infamous for painting almost comically "patriotic" pictures of ultra-conservative figures, including near countless ones of twice impeached former President Donald Trump. Maybe this reference is a nod at what sort of character Soldier Boy will end up being. The show itself has been pretty open about its politics since the beginning, so it wouldn't be surprising.

In the original The Boys comics, Soldier Boy was essentially the predecessor to Antony Starr's sexy and unhinged super celebrity Homelander. Homelander currently serves as leader of the famous superhero team The Seven, which was basically created exclusively to be a marketing gimmick for the sinister Vought Corporation. Thanks to the use of the "Compound V" serum, Soldier Boy was given powers in a sort of twisted version of the classic Captain America origin story. Except rather than becoming a wholesome beacon of integrity like Cap, Soldier Boy has a decidedly less snuggly personality.

There are sure to be plenty of surprises when The Boys season 3 launches. Several other new characters like Laurie Holden as the Crimson Countess have already been teased for the season, so it looks like the show's titular superhero-fighting team of misfits will have a lot more targets this time around.

The Boys season 3 will premiere June 3rd, 2022, on Amazon Prime.
